When is it OK to sacrifice national security for personal gain or political one-upmanship? For the common-sense-challenged, the answer is: "Never." In the years since Sept. 11, an odd assembly of Capitol Hill-types, their staffers and disgruntled federal employees from myriad intelligence agencies have played the "gotcha game" with the White House's methods of protecting the citizenry. Enabled by the media (which, by the way, have Ph.D.s in "gotcha"), they have become desensitized to the reasons some things must remain secret. They're making secret-revealing an extreme sport. Intentional, or even unintentional, leaks dry up productive intelligence-gathering techniques; Americans are placed at risk.
" After the next attack, the next second-guessing commission undoubtedly will excoriate the government. It's pretty much the only time that doves become hawks -- or, should I say, vultures.

And the prize should be hanging in the public square.
Only one more piece of the "I got mine" Me-generation fallout.
Well, when the Pulitzer awards these idiot reporters for revealing secrets, true or false, it encourages them to continue to undermine the country. FWIW, I think those who leak and those who publish the leaks should all go to jail. If you watched any of the Hayden hearings this week, the one senator who really made a fool of himself (more than the others) was Wyden(sp); essentially stating that the public has a right to know what our intelligence activities/operations are BEFORE they happen. If I'm not mistaken, Wyden and two others, are still under investigation about leaking highly secret information.
And I was all set to push for drawing and quartering...
Pulitzer Prize - journalistic "objectivity" at its finest
Pulitzer has gone the same way as the Nobel prize -- if you Bash Bush you have a chance at being the winner; if you tell the truth, you have no chance of being the winner. Pathetic.
AQ doesn't have to attack a second time. They only need to sit want watch America imploded.
The only way to stop the escalation of this openly subversive behavior is vigorous criminal prosecution and incarceration of some high-profile offender. Liberals cannot police themselves in this offense. They will commit increasingly egregious leaks of classified information, up to and including divulging secrets about nuclear armaments, if they are not chastened by jail time for some of their associates. In their disregard for state secrets, they are indistinguishable from the most dangerous foreign enemies of the USA.
We should not distinguish between levels of traitors. All should be locked up forever.
RON WYDEN (D-OR)
Agreed. It's ridiculous and a disgrace. And the leakers behave as though they are doing the country a great service.

Easy. When you are a Liberal.
It's bigger than bashing Bush. It's bringing America down and strengthens her enemies. It's also bringing down the core Judeo-Christen Western civilization. How else to explain giving the "Peace Prize" to the likes of a Terrorist like Arafat? When the movement towards real peace was not to be seen.
I think we should distinguish. Most of 'em should be hung from the neck until dead. A few should be locked up forever.
Oops, lets try that again. Never try to FReep and watch old Roy Rogers episodes at the same time.
It's bringing American down and strengthening her enemies.
Sounds like a plan.
