harris could just shadow vote nelso during the next few months.

The federal marriage amendment is commming up and she can come out and say she would vote for it.

She can come out opposed to the senate immigration bill, it is not like she is going to offend the republican establishment.

She needs to come on strong otherwise she is DOA.

Look, Harris is the nominee now.

Not until (and unless) she wins the Sept. 5 primary, she isn't. Harris has three republican challengers (Leroy Collins, Jr., Peter Monroe, and Will McBride) in the primary. On September 6, Harris may be the "nominee." But she isn't the nominee "now."

Have all the Harris bashers noticed that she's the only one who bothered to mount a campaign against Nelson?

Not true. She has three challengers in the primary for the republican nomination. Whether or not any of them can beat her (and then mount a viable campaign against Nelson in the general) remains to be seen.

I shake my head in wonder that all the establishment Republicans bitch about Harris's candidancy, and not one person stepped forward to run against her.

Not one? Correct. Three republican candidates "stepped forward to run against her" in the primary. Not one, but three.

Harris is the only candidate who had the gumption to step up and run against a well financed ultra-liberal masquerading as a moderate. The fact that she was the only one to do so provides us with a clear understanding of her character.

Well, I don't know what passes for "fact" in your world, but Harris is not the "only candidate who had the gumption to step up and run against a well financed ultra-liberal, etc." There are four republicans in this race, including Harris, Leroy Collins, Jr., Peter Monroe, and Will McBride. In addition, there are another four candidates (without party affiliation) in the race. Apparently, there were eight people, including Harris, with a bit of "gumption."

Yes, I stand corrected. What I should have have said was:"Harris is the only candidate with a snowballs chance in hell of winning and is the only Republican candidate anyone really gives a damn about who had the gumption to step up and run against a well financed ultra-liberal masquerading as a moderate.

There, that's much more factual. In your world of fact do you really think these, um, "candidates" pose any threat to her in the primary? Will you be supporting KH or, are you just another one here who thinks Bill Nelson is the better candidate because KH doesn't know how to properly apply make up? Or, maybe you're just a third-party promoter who enjoys getting nothing that they want?

Actually, I doubt that--assuming Harris stays in the race--that any of her three republican challengers will be able to beat her in the primary. However, one of those challengers, Will McBride, has already stepped out of the box and started campaigning, and I'm thusfar impressed with his stands on the issues. In the next 3½ months (before the primary), I look forward to learning much more about McBride, Collins, and Monroe (the republican candidates), as well as Harris, and I'll be voting for the republican candidate whom I believe best represents my viewpoints, as well as what I believe is best for Florida and the nation, in the primary. For me, that's what the process is all about. YMMV...that's your right, of course.

Will you be supporting KH or, are you just another one here who thinks Bill Nelson is the better candidate because KH doesn't know how to properly apply make up? Or, maybe you're just a third-party promoter who enjoys getting nothing that they want?

Thanks for the caustic inquiry. I hope it won't hurt your feelings if I don't respond in kind, but I don't know you at all...certainly not well enough for a silly, broadbrushed attempt at a return insult, nor to care about yours.

To answer your question, I don't give a damn how Harris applies her makeup. But when her propensity to spread it on with a trowel, or her inclination to thrust and shake her breast implants in skintight clothing, or her inappropriate behavior with convicted bribers (and her ridiculous, fumbling, and proven false explanations regarding same), makes Harris every late night comedian's joke, then I'm going to look for a candidate with a platform with which I can identify and support who isn't a perceived as a fool. I would be delighted to see Katherine Harris rehabilitate her image, but she's given no indication in the last 6 months that she is capable of doing much but digging the hole deeper.

Over the next 3 months, I'll be taking a hard look at the four republican candidates running in the Senate primary, including Harris. I'll vote in the primary for the republican candidate I think is best...you know, the old 330 year-old democratic process in action. Since I didn't vote for Nelson the last time around, and I can't think of much he's done or stands for that I agree with, I think it's a pretty safe bet that my vote won't be going to him. Beyond that, it's really none of your business, but thanks for asking. :-)

I guess most of the know-it-alls who jump in and post don't think there is any purpose to campaigns. it is all ego, here, not politics. We should let Dan Rather call a winner and leave it at that. This is not over. It is just beginning. Most people will not pay any attention until the fall. That's when polls may be interesting.

Polls don't concern me because they never call and ask me.

"Harris makes Nelson look very good in comparison."

-- VS --

Let's see. One is standing in front of ... what's that? A Fahrenheit 911 poster?

So, NO. Not in any way. Not for a conservative voter.

Furthermore, why would anyone here on FR be working to have a conservative candidate defeated? Which is what, at this point, is happening.
