What bothers me most of all, though, is his disregard of the Constitution at the same time he claims to revere it. Check out Power Surge, for example.
My arguments are sound. BTW, it's more than spelling...it's capitalization and punctuation, too...all in one sentence. ;-) I don't normally call in the grammar police, but the topic is English. :-)
I'm quite sure you believe that. There is a pattern of sound arguments all throughout this article and your well thought out criticisms of my grammar in a chat room. Yup, your arguments are sound... Oops, I meant "Yes" Please excuse me.
BTW English major..... Do you know the meaning of "Anal"
1) Not an English major...sorry. I learned English in public school, even.
2) I know the meaning of that word better than you know the meaning of smileys, I see.
Goodnight.
Sleep well! You were great tonight
What a defense, are you a Lawyer?
que?
The clue may be Allyn & Company.
Check out usajobs.opm.gov the official US government website listing jobs in the Federal government including the Army War College, military bases, State department, Library of Congress, etc. It has a link for the Spanish language version. If you can't read English well enough even to understand how to apply for a government job, why should you be eligible or even considered for employment in the government? This is madness.
My great-grandparents came from Switzerland. They spoke German. I'm sure that they didn't insist that this country provide German translations for everything. They learned English as fast as they could.
Bush and his cronies are contributing to the Balkanization of this country. We are soon going to reap the whirlwind for this idiocy.
Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907
A quick quote:
Develop teacher exchange and training programs for elementary and secondary school teachers. This would assist in removing language barriers and give some students a greater sense of North American identity. Greater efforts should also be made to recruit Mexican language teachers to teach Spanish in the United States and Canada. That's from page 30 of the linked document.
I urge all FReepers to go read this document. Eye opening and very bad news for our country. But it will help you understand the direction in which President Bush is steering the immigration debate.
CFR ping
WHAT WE SHOULD DO BY 2010
Lay the groundwork for the freer flow of people within North America. The three governments should commit themselves to the long-term goal of dramatically diminishing the need for the current intensity of the governments physical control of cross-border traffic, travel, and trade within North America. A long-term goal for a North American border action plan should be joint screening of travelers from third countries at their first point of entry into North America and the elimination of most controls over the temporary movement of these travelers within North America.
Yep! That's why everybody needs to read this CFR document.
