Sens. Chuck Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton yesterday joined other Democrats in a push to let all 12 million illegal aliens become citizens - but it was decisively defeated. Only Democrats voted for the full-legalization measure, which lost 61-37 as the Senate struggled to hold a bipartisan coalition in favor of legalization for most - but not all - illegal aliens.
Schumer said he backed the full-legalization measure because it sets "a very tough path to citizenship" and requires "learning English, working for 10 years and only missing 45 days [of work], paying a fine and staying on the straight and narrow."
Rep. Mike Pence (R-Indiana) yesterday proposed a possible compromise that would allow illegal aliens to apply for temporary jobs without the possibility of citizenship - but only if they return to their home countries to apply. House Homeland Security Committee chairman Pete King (R-L.I.), who opposes any legalization, yesterday said Pence's approach "is certainly worth considering."

Upstate needs its own state.
Chuck the Schmuck and Hillary Pillory need their own cell.
I second the emotion.
Now isn't that funsies to see Chuckie and Hitlery assuming the Hyphenate-Fellate position --- sucking up to illegals in order to cash-in later for votes and campaign contributions.
They're already got their ......"Dear Amigo"........campaign fund-raiser letters ready.
I'm curious as to what Rep. Tom Tancredo would think of this one.
Tank was critical of Pence's initiative---but you could chalk it up to professional jealousy. Tank has established a foothold on the issue and doesn't want to cede ground to anyone else.
Chuck the Schmuck and Hillary Pillory need their own cell.
Well, it's not like the two are mutually exclusive. Call me a greedy gut, but I'd like both :)
Tancredo was interviewed on the radio yesterday and he doesn't like Pence's bill. Tancredo is afraid that the enforcement portion of any bill that combines amnesty (by any name) with enforcement will see the enforcement portion fall by the wayside just like it did with the amnesty in 1986.
There is a thread about this but I can't find it right now. If I locate it, do you want me to ping you?
"... requires "learning English, working for 10 years and only missing 45 days [of work], paying a fine and staying on the straight and narrow."
And if they don't you are going to do what?
Nothing? Of, course. So its all smoke and mirrors so we dont see the knife coming up behind us!
Does it have to include Chappaqua?
Only if they wanna go :)
The Senate passed MANDATORY job verification for employers:

I have to say, this would really help the situation a great deal. I still don't approve the Senate bill, but when you add up this amendment, the reduction in guest workers to 200,000 with no increases, the total of $2750 in fines illegals will have to pay, and the start of a border wall, there's a lot more to like in this bill than was the case before the amendments started.

Almost forgot to tell you, I like the new graphic.
I feel Representative Mike Pence (R-Indiana) is the only one of the 535 members of Congress that is earning his salary!
I was wondering- what if the fine in the Senate bill was increased to something even more significant- such as $5,000 to be paid over a period of a few years?
Speaking for myself, you can get to a level of a fine which is significant enough that it can be regarded as a legitimate punishment and not amnesty. The thing I like about a fine is that it actually helps defray some of the illegals' costs and the illegals can't scam their way out of it with fake documents. They actually have to pay.
Draw the line at the Westchester - Putnam border.
Cut out all of NYC, Nassau and Suffolk.
Not sure about Rockland.
That just jeaves smaller pockets of malignancy in Albany and Buffalo.
Tell me about it. I haven't had any representation in years.
