Drop Title IX Suits
USA Today (FrontPage) ^ | Christina Hoff Sommers

USA Today articles are links Only

TOPICS: Culture/Society; Government; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: athletes; feminism; hoffsommers; ncaa; thewaragainstboys; titleix
Another scary excerpt: Debra Rolison of the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory campaigns nationally for using Title IX to eliminate bias in academic science programs. It would be horrible if Title IX were applied to the hard sciences. Look at what it's done to men's sports.

OK. That was quick. Thank you for correcting it.

The unhappy result is that men's wrestling, diving and gymnastic teams have been decimated, along with associated scholarship opportunities.

Men's volleyball participation is only 10% of women's volleyball at the NCAA DIV I level.

Men's volleyball is only allowed 4.5 scholarships per team as opposed to 12 scholerships for women.

It's a good article. It confirmed what I thought about the problems in engineering & other sciences.

(Would Donald Rumsfeld be the man he is if Title IX existed when he went to school?)

Beyond horrible. Downright dangerous. Do not get into an airplane or drive over a bridge once this starts.

Perhaps one day we will elect a conservative President, who will actually direct the Department of Education toward tasks other than fishing around for possible Title IX suits
(like maybe closing up shop?;)

why don't we apply Title IX for those majors which have a large number of females. We must force more males to be Ballet and Dance majors. Some men will have to take one for the team and be Women Studies majors.
