I think the danger would be if we had a president BJ Clinton who routinely instructed a compromised AG to search opponents congressional offices. That would be a nightmare.

But that's a long way form searching an office of a bozo who had the nerve to call out the Nat. Guard, get two vehicles stuck in the mud, all to rescue his frozen cash in hurricane torn NO!.

That's pretty good probable cause that hopefully will be seldom replicated.

Many are already collecting EITC payments according to Senator Sessions. He also said that 22 million households collect EITC payments totalling $39 billion annually.

Well...dang---I really need to use "search" more often.

Thanks for finding that...I did notice that the coach only gets suspended, not fired..which is what I thought I had heard yesterday..

NOT that it makes much of a difference...puh-lllllleeeze!

One of the GOOD things about competitive sports for children is that they learn that sometimes in life, no matter how hard you try, you WILL lose.

They are really setting up yet another generation of WIMPS..

BTW...I noticed someone from New York liked the idea enough to maybe adopt it there.

Down her in Bush country, the SOUTH---Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Miss, Ala....there is NO WAY they would even think about a rule like that. LOL

Take care hope to catch you on the dose later.

I've said this before, but the only thing keeping us and the English from truly understanding each other is the fact that we share a "common" language.

You'll need to explain to me what 'catch you on the dose later' means.  I'll simply let you know that "a dose" is slang over here for contracting a social disease (as well as common phrase for a cure of same).

The EITC started out as a way to assist low income wage earners WITH CHILDREN and reward them for their work It LOWERED their tax burden. It has over the years morphed into an income redistribution program available to many more than were ever intended, as indicated by your figures. This is the same thing that they have done to Social Security. We have been heading toward socialism for a long time and these programs are the means by which they hope to take us there.

LOL. The "dose" is the Day in the Life of President Bush daily thread, but on some days it can feel like taking a mood altering drug, in a good way.

Don't get me started on Jimmy Carter and his energy policies! My husband and are victims of the democrat policies on energy...first they pumped a lot of money into incentives for coal, and then got concerned that mining companies were getting rich, so they took the incentives away, causing the company my husband worked for to go into bankruptcy. Coupled with the Clean Air Act, the Indiana coalfields are shadows of what they once were. All of that coal is lying underground and not being mined, and not one Arab owns any of it!

Jimmy Carter is a jerk and a fool.

It would be interesting to look at the reasons this was thought important.

A common tactic of English Kings was to detain opposition members of parliment to keep them from supporting a bill the King didn't like or opposing a bill that he did.  IIRC the tactic was used against members of Colonial governments in the run up to the Revolutionary War and was, I believe, one of the complaints leveled against King George (it's only possible to infer this practice from the list of injuries in the Declaration of Independene).

Good example. One of my relatives owned an almond ranch back in the 70's. There were powered tree shakers and machines to pick up the nuts from the ground.

Reeducate and train the "marginal and unemployable" and get them off of welfare

That one is nonsense. the 3 to 4% who are Unemployable are unemployable because of mental or emotional handicaps, criminal behavior or other dysfunctional/handicap behavior. The idea that they can be "reeducated" is based on a failure to understand the problem. EVERY society has it "unemployable". It is result of nature, not a lack of Govt Intervention in their lives that makes it so. So there will always be a % of your population who are on the margins no matter what you do.

"Automation"

Many Economic functions cannot be automated. For example, you cannot automate Block Laying. It is a labor intensive hard dirty but well paying job. Most labor intensive employers have trouble finding good, hard working reliable AMERICANS to show up and do the work. That is why most of the crews you see have at least one Hispanic or other foreign born. The Antis can rant all they want but the post WW2 generations simply do not want to work that hard. They see manual labor as a step down, not a step up. Really funny considering some of the best paid people in our society do Construction work.

As someone who has worked Construction I assure you, MOST of your Native born who work in those jobs are marginally employables. They are completely unreliable. They have a poor work ethic, they have drug and alcohol problems, they only show up for work about 70% of the time, they have an entitlement mentality and problem with authority figures. Perfect Democrats in other words.

Also, Automation is a function of the Free Market. You cannot "Force" automation. IF there were a way to automate most functions the illegals do, they would of been automated. The most expensive machine is still more reliable and less trouble then any a gang of human employees. Plus you get the depreciation write off and don't have to pay for all the bennies, holidays, medical leave and time off.

Off shoring? How do you off shore Carpentry, Block work, Landscaping etc etc etc? So off shoring is NOW a "good thing"? Better then immigration? Economically that is a nonsense argument. You do not want to reduce your level of economic activity you want to increase it. The more increase the better. Immigration increases economic activity for a society, off shoring decreases it by moving the activity to a different society. In this case the suggest "cure" really is worse then the disease.

Stop doing stuff? Again, decreases the level of economic activity. The Free Market, not a Govt Bureaucrat, decides what economic activity is needed or not needed. This one would most assuredly be worse then the disease. Micromanaging the economy on this scale is the sort of thing Commies try. It does not work. It creates massive poverty, an equality of misery, repression and a completely dysfunctional society.

So only number 2 works out of all of your 5 points. 2. Legal (and tightly controlled) immigration

#295 gives the bottom line on the entire matter We must do something, but no amnesty and yes we have to have a fence, and ID card that cannot be tampered with. There must be immunization or they should not be allowed in the Country.

Bayh is, in my opinion, the most dangerous opponent we could go against in 2008. He is very liberal, but hides it when he campaigns. He has a beautiful wife and attractive twin sons, and he has "executive hair."

He is a boring speaker, but that doesn't matter...so was Bill Clinton, who somehow has received accolades on his speaking ability for the last 15 years, even though he is BORING and LONGWINDED.

Bayh has perfected the art of sounding "reasonable" in television interviews. He is probably going to be the Veep candidate if the left thinks they can use him to win.

No one should think he is a moderate. His father is best friends with Ted Kennedy, and he is every bit as liberal.

ref #296, he may have taken acting lessons from his former wife, who incidentally is reported to have "Dementia" and will be on Larry King Live this week. I do not know if the two statements are actually related.

Sorry cannot have it both ways. Sen Session cannot claim he "knows" how many illegals are getting Government Assistance but cannot tell us with an assured how many Illegals are here. Earlier we were told we could not make any claims about the Economic Benefits because we could not quantify the numbers involved.

If Sen Session KNOWS how many people are collecting Govt Benefits illegally, Why are they still collecting them? In addition to Illegal Immigration that would be Welfare Fraud which we do seriously prosecute. Again, the arguments being advanced are taken on faith based on the person's personal position on the issue.

Simply nonsense to make claims that x% of illegals do this or that when you cannot even qualify the total number of illegals.

I have read that most of the California almond crop now goes into animal feed to keep the price up on those used for human consumption.

I doubt that it is "most", but a big percentage does.
