I think that the Repubs still can have some influence over the Gov. in some areas that they wouldn't have if the Gov. was a Democrat.
There is that great "bipartisanship" myth again. That's when ARnold joins with the democrats and then strongarms Republican legislators to support the leftists. Those bonds could not get more than 50% support from the Assembly, despite sending his operatives out to "encourage" support for the big-spending-bonanza. The housing bonds got only 2 votes each from Republican legislators in the Assembly and Senate.
"A) a liberal Democrat in the Governor's office, with Republican legislators emboldened to fight every time he tries to raise the minimum wage? " --- which makes NO DIFFERENCE, because the CA Legislature is overwhelmingly Democrat.
It seem you are advocating a liberal leftist Dem governor WITH a liberal leftist Dem Legislature with overwhelming majority of Dems -- they can pass EVERY legislature they want, bills you claim to be against, starting with drivers licenses to illegals, homosexual marriage, inflation adjusted minimum wage, overturn the workers' comp reform Arnold enacted, enact extrem environmental legislation and so on, for starter.
And THIS is what you are advocating: a Dem governor with a Dem Legislature with Dems in every statewide office.
Gee, this will sure help the conservative agenda, when they pass dozens of legislations, which the governor will sign, which is the opposite of every conservative priciple.
Your Reply #50 is significant since you hold the highest elected position possible in one of CA's 58 counties!!!
A new script? ... A new script?
The script has never changed. Schwarzenegger has always been a liberal and has always promoted liberal causes with minor exceptions*.
*Minor exceptions are defined as those actions that would lead to an immediate recall by a moderate electorate.
You can't be serious. Me thinks you're paying too much attention to the MSM and FO.
FYI - California endures the highest rate of per capita taxation in the state's history under the Austrian's administration. While tax rates are rising faster under the Austrian than they did under Davis, Arnie remains a pale second to Pete Wilson, who still holds the record for the single, largest, state tax increase in the nation's history.
I'm not advocating it, just pointing out the tough choices we face.
Gee, this will sure help the conservative agenda, when they pass dozens of legislations, which the governor will sign, which is the opposite of every conservative principle.
It'll be the same with Arnold, so why sweat it. Wait until you see what he signs when the election is behind him. Just like Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown...but I'm sure you'll have a spin for every gay-benefits, illegal alien, abortion at your local 7-11 bill he signs.
And for the record a Demo majority is NOT all-powerful. They need 2/3 to pass the budget and a whole lot of other stuff. With a liberal Dem pretending to be a Republican they can peel off the necessary sellouts to get that 2/3. A true-blue liberal Dem can't do that.
There is the chance the unions can spend another near 100 million to unseat him.
They are failing the kids in school and they would rather not be held accountable.
AS can win, but he will have to work his butt off because they all want him out bad, especially before 2008 when they would want a Dem to help whoever runs for President.
Apparently you are ignoring that he vetoed the homosexual marriage bill and said he will veto the homosecual promotion in schools bill, both of which his opponents stated they would sign.
So please explain again, why you prefer Angelides/Westly to ARnold?
Apparently you are ignoring that there is nothing preventing him from signing it next year. He tried to double-deal us on the drivers license issue but backpedaled when he heard the outcry.
I promise you, this kowtowing to conservatives is p---ing him off, and Maria even more so.
Again I don't prefer a Democrat, I always advocate supporting Republicans. I will point out though that Angelides would be unable to roll RINO Senators Maldonado, Harmon and Daucher next year for a nasty budget or a tax increase. Arnold, on the other hand will have them in his pocket from day one. He just needs two in the Senate and six in the Assembly. Arnold will get those weak-kneed Reps. Angelides and Westly however could not get their votes.
Bottom line, you keep explaining the losing is winning, black is white, white is black and who knows what the meaning of "is" is.
ARnold vetoed important bills, his opponents said they will sign it. It's pretty obvious. For most things the Republican votes don't count, a Dem governor with a Dem Legislature can destroy CA.
Arnold is the force opposing them -- he put his entire capital on line to pass the conservative propositions, yet some people keep promoting the big lie, that there is no difference between Arnold and his leftist Dem opponents.
Please re=read my post 7, or read it carefully, if you ignored it earlier.
