Well my good friends George and Laura have yet to see the movie United 93. To see it they have invited 2 people from each of the families of those that died on 9/11 aboard Flight 93. After a late lunch/early dinner with the President and First Lady but only one of us will be able to view the movie w/ them.
Since my mother has not seen it yet - but is ready to now - she will go in with them to view it...and I will get an up close and personal tour of the White House.
This, on the heels of Memorial Day, should be amazing. It's going to be heavy-duty on my mother but I think she'll handle it well....fingers crossed.
For anyone who has not seen it please do - it is amazing. You'll walk out having gone through every emotion possible in about 90 minutes...and you'll leave knowing full well why we are fighting.

I do. Some things are important for as many Freepers as possible to get the message. Our friend who has shared with us so many of his feelings and dealings with United 93 is just adding to the experience.
A little bit of Freeperdom will be in the White House with the President, First Lady and families of fellow passengers. If our president can honor champion sports teams, surely he can honor the memory of these valiant Americans, whose actions on September 11 are an inspiration to us all. What a very special group of people are going to share time together, and the President is their host.
And we probably would not even know it was going to happen, if not for Chris in NJ.

Capture the moment with a camera if possible. It will help you recall it as their will be lots of emotion that may fog memories of the event.

We, too, are proud of the brave souls on Flight 93. Another citizen of New Jersey, Richard Stockton, Signer of our Declaration of Independence, in 1776, "rushed home to Princeton to rescue his family from approaching British troops. He was captured and thrown into prison, where he was repeatedly beaten and kept near starvation. The British destroyed his home and burned his papers. As a result of his mistreatment, he became an invalid and died in 1781."("Our Ageless Constitution," Stedman/Lewis, p. 15) Since 1776, we owe our liberty to the sacrifices of many individuals and families who stood up against tyrants, large and small, to preserve this sacred bastion of liberty in the world.
Tell the President we're proud of his firm stand for life, and his articulation of the ideas of liberty--and that the pollsters don't poll us!
The whole major problem in handling the crisis was the utter inability for anyone to comprehend the vast scope of the attack on America.

Watching a tape of an A&E program yesterday, Anatomy of 9-11, I was struck again by the same fact. People inside the towers could communicate with loved ones by celphone like passengers on Flight 93 could, but rescuers could not communicate with each other effectively. Some of the people in the North Tower did not even know that the South Tower had fallen. Two workers happened to find an intact stairway, never met another soul on their trip down 89 flights, and had no way of sharing that info. And of course, supervisors could not reach the fireman who had gone up into the towers to tell them they had to get out.
The heroism of the people on that plane will never be forgotten.
Yesterday, President BUSH thoughtfully listened at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier while a U.S. Navy Choir sang the stirring hymn from "WE WERE SOLDIERS" titled:
"The MANSIONS of the Lord"

That hymn was a wonderful choice. I hope it becomes as traditional as the Navy Hymn and others, in events honoring our military heroes.

I saw the movie opening weekend. It was very powerful and very well done. It captured the chaotic nature of that morning brilliantly. I am in awe over the courage of those passengers (your father!) who were the first heroes and very first line of defense in our war on terror.
God bless you and your family, Chris. I pray that you will enjoy your lunch with the President and First Lady, and I pray that your mother finds some comfort in knowing that her husband is a hero to this country and this President.

The President has been busy lately. He's seeing the movie today.

I think is speaks volumes about Pres. Bush that he wants to see the movie with the families of the heroes on that plane.
I saw the movie a few weeks ago and wept. It was very well done and your comments were important for me in deciding whether to see it or not (we never know the influence we have on others, do we?).
