(CBS4) MIDDLEBORO A local veteran who lost parts of both of his arms in Iraq, is suing filmmaker Michael Moore. Sgt. Peter Damon says Moore recycled old news footage of Damon, and used it in a way that made him seem anti-war.
The snip-it appears in Moores film "Fahrenheit 9/11."
Sgt. Peter Damon, a father of two from Middleboro, strongly supports the war effort in Iraq and never agreed to appear in Moores movie. According to the New York Post, he is now suing for $85 million.
Damon was interviewed by NBC in 2003 while being treated at Walter Reed Army Hospital. The interview was about a new painkiller being used on injured soldiers. Damon says he did not express any views on the war itself in that interview.
Michael Moore used a clip from that interview in "Fahrenheit 9/11." It shows Damon lying on a gurney, saying he feels like hes being "crushed in a vice."
The scene appears in a sequence that talks about how the government is abandoning veterans.
You may recall Peter Damon threw out the first pitch at Fenway Park after returning home to Middleboro. The non-profit group Homes For Our Troops also built a home for the Damon family, specially designed for Peters physical needs.
The NY Post says the lawsuit also names NBC, Miramax, and other production companies.
Miramax is Disney, isn't it?
Good for him for once again taking up the good fight.
related story from last Oct. No word if Fatboy Mikey Moore
has a similar organization in place to help the wounded...
:
CBS4) MIDDLEBORO A veteran from Middleboro, badly wounded in Iraq, is waking up in his new home on Friday, thanks to dozens of people who built it for him.
Army Sergeant Peter Damon and his family just moved into a Middleboro home on Thursday. Its unique features are designed to help Damon, who lost his arms two years ago in an explosion while working on a helicopter.
I can't thank everyone who worked on this house enough, says Damon. This is such a wonderful thing that people would invest their time and there generosity into coming up here and working on a project like this.
The new home was made possible by Homes For Our Troops an organization dedicated to helping injured war veterans.
59 different companies joined the effort to help build the home.
Go get em Sarge!
This isn't the first time I've heard someone complaining that Moore took their statements out of context in "Fahrenheit 9-11".
Memo to Michael Moore;
Don't eat all of those steaks and fries and stuff your fat face any time soon. Looks like you will be coughing up $85,000,000.00 to someone who actually deserves it a hell of a lot more than you! Hope you enjoy writing that check you fat bozo assclown!.
The Geezerwheezer
I would pay to get on the jury that decides this case.
Good for him.
Anyone know if he has set up a PayPal for his legal expenses? I would contribute in a heartbeat.
Yes it is, but the two scummers who ran Miramax were pushed out by Disney and now have their own new company.
I normally don't like high priced lawsuits, however I am behind Sgt. Damon on this.
And there is no better place to attack gliberals then where it hurts them the most: in the pocketbook!
I'm dying to hear Michael Moore's defense: "It's fiction."
"No word if Fatboy Mikey Moore
has a similar organization in place to help the wounded..."
No, but I'm certain he would be willing to attend any pot-luck affairs that might be organized.
I'm with you R.
good news bttt
And there is no better place to attack gliberals then where it hurts them the most: in the pocketbook!
>>>>>
And inside their safety zone of our judicial system.
hehe!!
I hope someone makes a documentary about this, so we can see how Mike behaves when confronted by his own lies.
i did a google search for you, to try and find out if he had set up a legal fund. it brought me right back to this thread! hahaha!
and the first three returns were links to OTHER Free Republic threads. We're bigger than we realize!
hopefully someone can find out if this guy has a fund.
If this is a war, then this is how it must be fought. Moore is a lying sack who's made a comfortable living using people to attack and hurt those he disagrees with. $85 million is a nice bit of pay back.
56 Deceits in Fareinheit 911, by Dave Kopel.
Kopel has an extive analysis of Moore's distortions, plus a one page summary of the major Moore lies.

Hope he wins!
Where do these "journalists" go to school? The word is snippet.
I remember watching that pile of crap (not all the way through) but he stated that Porter Goss lied about having a 1-800 number to contact him about concerns and complaints...Moore made it appear as if Goss was lying and put a direct phone number to his D.C. office...of course...Goss did have an 800 number...it was a 1-866 exchange that directed to his Florida and D.C. offices.
But of course..Goss was a liar because he didn't say 866...and said 800.
Newsflash for Moore...866 is still in the 800's and is a toll free #.
I pray this Iraq vet gets the full 85 million...leaving Moore with marginal profits for his lie/slander fest he was so richly applauded for.
Amazing how someone like Dimebag Darrell Abbott (guitarist for Pantera/Damageplan) is murdered in cold blood on-stage for doing nothing but making music and people laugh and then we have the other side of the "entertainment" spectrum.. Michael Moore..who slanders the U.S. Military, President, Vice President, the United States in general and gets awards and hundreds of millions of dollars and still roams the earth.
God is keeping him around for some reason...why? I have no f-cking clue.
I believe so.
Way to go.

"I normally don't like high priced lawsuits, however I am behind Sgt. Damon on this."
Normally I agree, but in this case Fatso attempted to steal this Soldier's honor.
Not to mention the additional deaths his propaganda piece caused.
I bet Moore will try to settle out of court, but I have a feeling this Soldier wants to continue fighting the war by taking him down in court.
Good for him...this is simply pitiful on Moore's part. He deserves what he gets...
A jury trial would be fatbastard's worst nightmare in this case... Here's hopin that every other service person damaged by this arsses tripe learns of this and jumps on the band wagon.
We should start a legal offense fund to help this guy sue the Great Slob and Traitor Moore.
I hope that the $85 million is more than he has so that he is not only wiped out but also forced to pay on the judgement from any future "work" as well.
Not if he gets an OJ jury.
Moore will say that being in the service makes Damon a public figure that he can lie about as he would any one in the government and that as a maker of fictional documentaries lying is his livelyhood.
>>Is this the same Veteran who was in Farenhype 911?
Probably!
how is it possible for Moore to just grab footages of someone without their permission and put it in his movie and make a profit out of other people's image
Looking at closeups like that, you can almost smell him...
Ha Ha nice one Brilliant.
Indeed his only way out is to claim that F9 11 was "art" or "fiction" or his "opinion".
I love it when folks like Michael Moore paint themselves into a corner and then have to sit there and watch the paint dry!
"I'm dying to hear Michael Moore's defense: "It's fiction."
Then he'll have to pay an actor's wages to him
>Anyone know if he has set up a PayPal for his legal expenses? I would contribute in a heartbeat.
Same here.
I remember when the libs were all "upset" that the Republicans were using JFK's own words in a TV ad, they were whining that it was done without permission, where are the whiners now?
If he has a case there will be hundreds of lawyers that will take it for 1/3 plus expenses. He won't have to pay a dime.
