There was a company called Iridium ( maybe it's still around ) that the bin Laden family either owned or was heavily involved in. They hired a son of Carter's VP, Walter Mondale, as CEO.

I remember seeing that when googling for info on the bin Laden's and their connections shortly after 9/11.
