I believe it may be time for Mr. James Monroe to make a statement.

There are so many bombastic news coming from this guy that I start believing he's all thunder but little rain.

That reminds me of song by Shaggy... boombastic, lol!

Chavez behaves like a dope peddler who has sampled too much of his own product. It is bad enough when the Usual Gang of Idiots (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, etc.) support the guy, but it is worse when Russia supplies him with what he wants most - the means to suppress dissent and crush rebellion. The supply of weapons enables him to lend brute force to his crackhead ideas. One can only hope that the new Kalashnikovs find their way into the hands of Venezuelan patriots with the will to clean house.

That's a problem when commies with delirious of grandeur take power. The end result is always the same - death and destruction, and the oppression of those too weak to fight.

The positive aspect of Chavez's rants and ravings is that many of his neighbours are becoming nervous and anxious. His "zany" behaviour does open a doorway for improved US relations with other nations in South America.

You got a point there - very good observation.

Unfortunately, his lunacy is catchy over there. Evo Morales got elected, Ollanta Humala seems to have a good chance at winning the Peruvian election, Argentina's Kirchner seems like a soft leftist at least, Brazil has "Lula," Chile's president's a socialist, and so is Uruguay's. I don't know about the rest of South America's presidents.

It appears that the only ally we've got is Colombia which does have some bad blood with Venezuela. I'm seriously wondering if Chavez intends to arm FARC with these AKs.

Don't forget about Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua and AMLO in Mexico. It could be a really bad year.

I can here the national anthem of the USSR being played in the Kremlin now, with the Hammer and Sickle flying above...

Bush's foreign policy of late (pandering to Europe and Russia/China on Iran) also indicates a turn in the wrong direction.

On virtue, I believe that Bush is buckling to liberal pressure on the Iraq war and will leave the WOT before the job is finished. He will also buckle to liberal pressure on immigrants.

If this happens, I will consider Bush to be a Democrat in Republican clothing.

For Bush to get back on my good side, he has to do three things... 1. Support the House immigration bill. 2. Reaffirm support for the war on Terror and activly promote the progress in Iraq and Afghanistan to refute the Media line, and the consequences of withdrawl... 3. Take the hardline on Iran. Tell the euroweenies off and the Russians and Chinese to stop their weapons sales to Iran.

"Putin will do whatever he can to help keep the region destabilized. He has never been our friend and far as I, and many others I'm sure, are concerned the old Russia never died, they just took on newer clothing."

Excellent points.

"Putin's not interested in peace and world stability, he's only interested in whatever he can conquer and his country is still out to conquer the US."

He will conquer from the inside---subversion. As in Germany. Their last chancellor now works for Gazprom.

That is very likely.

"which regards Mr Chavez as a destabilising influence in the region."

Why doesn't the media call it like it is - the Kremlin has been exporting genocide for 90 years and its time we wised up to the Russians

"... US-Russian relationship is exclusively zero-sum game took over his ability to reason."

That's the root of the Russians' latest moves. They're still trying to play the "zero-sum game" but haven't figured out that you need two competing poles to play. They're not close to being on par with the sole remaining superpower and now they're relegated to making deals with bannana republics. The AKs don't bother me - they're more of a potential threat to Chavez than to us. Let the fool import some arms that will eventually be turned on him.

You really think so. The Venezuelans will need outside help to get rid of Chavez.
