I am shocked that ABC REPORTED the results of this poll.

It is my belief "YOU WILL NOT HEAR ABOUT THIS much longer. It will not be reported incessantly LIKE BUSH's poll numbers!!

Denny Hastert idiot alert. Hastert took a story about a corrupt dem and turned it into a fight between repub leadership and the white house.

I agree the biggest mistake the Republican congressional leadership did was to complain about the FBI searches. It fairly or unfairly portrays the Republicans as attempting to hide possible criminal activity under the cloak of constitutional rights.

I look forward to the Gonzales And Mueller hearings

That is if the congresscritters are still stupid enough to have them

Congress is not a sanctuary to hide and commit federal crimes by selling out our country to fatten their bank accounts

In the rift between Congress and the Justice Department, Americans side overwhelmingly with law enforcement: Regardless of precedent and the separation of powers, 86 percent say the FBI should be allowed to search a Congress member's office if it has a warrant.

Is it possible that 14% of all Americans are crooked politicians or the beneficiaries of the crooked politicians largess?

The Senate passed its immigration bill in order to create an atmoshere of a nation of lawbreakers in order mitigate their own lawbreaking.

Amen; he is the weakest most inept speaker of the house I have seen in my lifetime. We; as Conservatives should examine the process that give us senators like Spector and representatives such as Hastert. While we are at why hasn't John McCain been told bluntly not in this party not ever,"we wish you well in finding your presidential nomination but it won't be coming from here". I'm sick to death of the party that I have supported since I first was able to vote selling out like a crack whore trying to buy one more rock.

I hate to tell you, but while your friend might be republican, with his attitudes, he is NO conservative.

Hastert really needs to retire. He has no credibility left after this fiasco. Jefferson (D-LA) gave the Repubicans the corruption issue on a silver platter, and incredibly, Pelosi talked Hastert into going after the FBI..snatching defeat from the jaws of victory yet again. The GOP suffers from the Charlie Brown syndrome. Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown just as he is about to kick it is an apt representation of how the Dems manage to fool the Republicans over and over.

I am very well aware that my friend is on the wrong side of many issues. He is a religous person who is fervently anti-gay marraige, pro-family, and pro-life. However, being in DC has a way of changing people over time and not for the better. I was just illustrating the insulated mentality of the DC political industry (for lack of a better word). All I can hope for is that they will "get it" by August so that the November elections won't be as bad.

Love the screen name. If my mythogology is correct, I believe Surtur was the leader of the Fire Giants in Norse mythology. And I did not have to use Wikipedia to look that one up.

I am sorry that your friend has lost his way. Perhaps if he removes himself from his current situation, he will regain his lost principles. As for my screen name, yes Surtur is the king of the fire giants in Norse mythology. I chose it because after the final conflict between the gods and demons, Surtur is one of the few beings left. He then uses his fire to cleanse the world of the refuse caused by the war much like farmers used to burn their fields before the new growing season to clear out weeds and to fertilize the ground with ash to give the new crops the best chance to grow. It is Surtur's fires that makes the new world clean and pure, and without the taint of the old gods and demons, for the new races of men that came into being after Ragnarok.
