[snip] Familial feelings for corrupt and non-cooperative Mexico may seem puzzling until one reads Newsweek's contribution to the couch session, a story highlighting Mr. Bush's affection for the Mexican-born women who have always tended him and his family. OK: So Mr. Bush regards housekeeper Paula Rendon as his "second mother." That's nice. But does that mean the rest of us have to regard 100 million Mexicans as fellow citizens? Of course, the end of America as a national idea is being promulgated by forces greater than any one man. From the anti-American left to bottom-line Big Business, from global elites to media elites, there is less and less any notion of a nation. Such amnesia may be fine for them. But then there's the rest of us. Is America something we can just forget?

Lou Dobbs had Diana as a guest tonight on his nightly hour-long rant against the sellout of America.
(You might want to skip Ms. West's opening paragraph which inidcates a desperate need for an editor. After that, though, the lady soars.)
I'm in love

If we could magically go back to 1848 and undo the treaty of Hildago and just have let Mexico keep our south west states, we would today be debating what to do with all the illegals coming accross our southern Nebraska border.
In case you hadn't noticed we are in a lot of trouble right now. The West is in a cultural and political free fall. Europe is disappearing fast; Canada is already gone, at least politically. The US is fast going to the ropes.
Christianty is openly scoffed at and is under attack by the ACLU and forces in the government. Turn on your tv or go to a Hollywood movie: America is shown to be a terrible place; a kind of homophobic Jesusland, where the ignorant bible thumpers rule.
Those pushing their diversity and global warming agenda want control. Control over industrial policy, control over how the Constitution is interpreted.
Hillary or Gore is on the horizon, hold on, it's gonna be a rough ride.
I do not like the fact that so many are coming across the border. As a native Californian, I have seen it my entire life. Having said that, it seems to be an issue that is being exploited by someone to divide the party. I wonder who really profits from that huh? Is it maybe the left who are popping popcorn and watching the republican's self destruct? Is this the only issue that matters any more in this nation????? What the heck is really going on here?
What are we going to to about it?
I'm sending a copy of this and several other commentaries to my congressman (Murtha). I'm going to strongly suggest that he read them to get some idea about how to vote on any bill that emerges from the conference committee. I doubt he'll pay much attention to me, but I'll remind him that he has an opponent in the general election and that the voters are fed up with him and the Senate Democrats and sellout Republicans.
Actually, I had noticed :-(
What are we going to do about it?
You are correct, but it doesn't change the point I was making.
Well, it is not as satisfying as bringing a bunch of politicians up on treason charges and hanging them, BUT I have quit Brit and his "all stars" in favor of Dobbs at CNN, something I never dreamed that I would do.
Murdock supports Hillary and his Fair and Balanced network is joining in the corporate sellout.
It is a small thing -- punishing FOX and rewarding CNN -- but it can have an effect. And it helps us to keep our passion on this issue focused with someone in the media leading such a strong charge.
Elect Newt Gingrich President.
Ask Murtha why he siding with Bush and criminals against the American people. Ask it in a letter to your local paper too.
Democrats need to know who in their party is siding with Bush against them.
I think you make a strong point here for deep, reflective, historical conversations.
I doubt it is terribly important on this side of the border, though, because few of us give a damn about the kind of historical claim that the Hispanic radicals are making. It is about as compelling as the claim for reparations for the descendants of slaves.
Still, it is nice to know that, in fact, their claim is bogus!
Mr. Bush regards housekeeper Paula Rendon as his "second mother.
I presume Ms. Rendon is here legally ...isn't she?
One would presume Bush knows the difference between the words "illegal" & "legal" -- or does he?
Clearly what she said about demographics today and the mexicans was right on.
We used to be a "melting pot" now we are only about mexicans and their culture and their language.
And we are paying out billions of dollars to support one fourth of the entire population of mexico in welfare benefits.
