Haditha Doctor Was Arrested, Hates US Too
Sweetness & Light ^ | June 1, 2006 | N/A

You have probably heard by now that the doctor who examined the bodies of the civilians in Haditha after the alleged Marine rampage said they were shot in the chest and head and from close range.

You have probably also heard it reported that the death certificates of the deceased record that all the victims were shot. Here is an article which features the source for the quote and probably the author of the death certificates, from the terrorist supporters at Uruknet:

An image taken from footage shot on November 19, 2005 shows bodies in a morgue after an incident in Haditha.

Witnesses, video document massacre in Haditha US Marines killed Iraqi civilians “in cold blood”

20 May 2006

US Congressman John Murtha said on Wednesday that a Pentagon investigation into the deaths of civilians in Haditha, Iraq, last November will show that US Marines "killed innocent civilians in cold blood." Murtha (Democrat, Pennsylvania) was referring to a probe launched into a November 19 incident in which at least 23 civilians—including seven woman and three children—were gunned down by US troops. Haditha is a predominantly Sunni town 200 kilometers northwest of Baghdad in Anbar province...

Dr. Wahid, the director of the local Haditha hospital, said the Marines brought 24 bodies to his hospital around midnight November 19. He told Time the Marines claimed the victims had been killed by shrapnel, "But it was obvious to us that there were no organs slashed by shrapnel. The bullet wounds were very apparent. Most of the victims were shot in the chest and the head—from close range."

This quote has now become an essential element in most of the articles on Haditha.

Being the highest ranking doctor on the scene, Wahid (Walid) is probably the person who filled out the death certificates, or he ordered them filled out.

What we haven't been told by our one party media is some of the background on the good doctor.

Again from Uruknet:

Iraqi Doctors Beaten and Arrested in Haditha Hospital

Sabah Ali, BRussells Tribunal

October 30, 2005

Dr. Walid Al-Obeidi, the director of Haditha General Hospital and Dr. Jamil Abdul Jabbar, the only surgeon in the Haditha area were arrested for a week, very badly beaten and threatened to face the same treatment in the future by the American troops.

Dr.Walid said "they arrested me in my house in front of my family, covered my eyes, and tied my hands to the back on Oct 5 2005 morning, during the last attack on Haditha (360 kilometers west of Baghdad). They occupied the hospital for 8 days and made it their office. The first day they beat me on my eyes, nose, back, hands, legs... My face was covered with blood .When they removed the tie I could not see. They investigated me until the afternoon. I realized later that I was arrested in the hospital store. Then they tied my hands to the front, and left me for two days. I was moved then to the pharmacy department. They accused me of treating terrorists, and asked for their names.

I told them that I treat patients regardless of their identity, according to my oath as a doctor; even if they were national guards (which we actually I did) or American soldiers. And any way, if I do not want to treat the insurgents, I have no choice, because they were armed and masked. I would do anything they tell to do. Few days later, one of the soldiers came in the room, did not say anything, kicked me again on my face and left" ...

Both doctors were threatened if they do not talk, they would receive the same treatment in the future. They were warned of passing any information of the arrest to the media. They were asked who wrote the hostile slogans against the American on the opposite wall of the hospital? What are the names of the insurgents they treated? and what are the bodies’ pictures in the hospital computer?

Dr.Walid said he does not know who wrote on the wall outside the hospital, what the names of the insurgents are, because they were masked. He explained that the dead bodies’ pictures were of unknown people whose bodies were found after the fighting. "We can not keep these bodies forever; we do not have enough cold boxes. So, after two months, we take their pictures and bury them, so that whenever some one from their families comes to ask we show the pictures of the dead bodies".

The UN, the international HR organizations, WHO, Doctors sans frontiers…and all who it may concern are called upon to do some thing to help these, and other Iraqi doctors, and to prevent similar treatment in the future. Dr.Walid and Dr. Jamil believe that they may face the arrest and beating in the future. They demand that the American troops stop occupying the hospital and destroying it every time the attack Haditha. They also believe that the Iraqi authorities are incapable of protecting them.

Is it possible Dr. Walid (Wahid) has an anti-American prejudice?

"... find the terrorists are behind this".

This is what I think too. I suspect it was a set-up. The terrorists killed these people and blamed it on our military. Haven't they already tried this before in Iraq ..?? The story actually sounds very similar to me.

Savages attacks on the Rino politicians and this administration, are the result of GW being asleep at the switch. This country is rudderless, without a captain at the helm is the best way to put it.

I heard the same swing of opinion about WolfBlitz. One other thing he did in the past month, was first praise summer time and hot weather, then one week later curse it and wish it was winter year round. I think he is a bit manic depressive, that makes him all the more believable to me. His core belief doesn't change, but he wears emotion on his sleeve.

Please note:

I am beginning to doubt that Abdul Wahab Al Obeidi and Doctor Walid (Wahib, Waheeb) Al Obeidi are the same person.

It just doesn't seem possible that the head of a hospital would have the time for all the nonsense that Abdul gets up to.

Though it is clear that Dr. Walid Al Obeidi is known to the BRussell Tribunal. They seem to have an in with him. So maybe this is just a relative.

But because of the weird permutations of Arabic names (thanks to no uniform transliteration) I can't be sure one way or the other.

Just thought I should point that out, before this gets too far along.

It could still be right that these two are one and the same, but maybe not.

In any case, there is enough in Dr. Walid's well-documented background to certainly create doubt that his reports are unprejudiced and accurate.

I do love his stories about his father's antique shop, like anything else you just have to figure out where Savage is coming from, certainly cant fault him on borders, language and culture.

I've found from listening to him that people who hate him and say things like this, are usually Red Diaper Doper Babies. Or, they can't stand the truth.

I don't like the guy because he is often factually challenged and I do not resemble Savage's hateful little slur.

Sam, check the original mention of him in the One Morning In Haditha, Time piece, they say that Wahid is not his real name. He said he was afraid of retribution.

Walid is certainly Wahid, take it to the bank.

I notice the Tal Afar claims- that's where Zarqawi was hiding at one point and where our troops encountered some chemical which caused them respiratory problems. It's also where the Mayor of the town wrote a letter profusely thanking the US military for kicking the terrorists out of town.

As I recall it's also a place where the insurgents had shot Iraqi families whose homes they had taken over to hide from our troops.

Savage attacks the root of the problem. Zero diplomacy, zero compromise, zero appeasement. There is definitely room for his rhetoric on this side of the aisle.

Yes, I realize that. I'm certain Walid and Wahid Al Obeidi are the same guy. My doubts are the subsquent permutations to Abdul Wahab Al Obeidi.

However it is fairly clear that Walid/Wahid had some connection to BRussels Tribune. And Abdul Wahab Al Obeidi what writing details about Haditha back in December long before anybody else seemed to have any interes:

So it probably is the same guy, or a relative. But I'd rather be safe than sorry.

BRussells Tribunal.

It is a spinoff of some Bertrum Russell (the famous brainiac and Commie) forum where these people met.

There's a link to their site in one of my posts about them above.

They are very nasty people.

It will be a hot time when they get back the results of the autopsies and they are made public. Cause of death, shrapnel, bullets, time of death, calibre of bullets or type of shrapnel and composition of any explosives on the bodies of the dead.

I looked at the video, and the bullet holes look a tad large for 5.56 to me. More like 7.62, which begs the question of 7.62 X 39 or 7.62 X 51? There should be some bullets in the walls which would sort that out by the construction of the projectile, metallurgy, and original diameter, if that can be ascertained.

Uruknet is the original domain of the pre-invasion Iraqi government aka Baathist Party. I'd have to look it up but I seem to remember that it was hosted on a server in the USA also used by various al qaeda linked charities and maybe even CAIR. I may be wrong so I need to look in my records.

I came upon it back in 2001 or so when I was snatching Saddam Hussein "sermons" - speeches Saddam Hussein used to court certain useful segments of the muslim world- off of it to help prove to lib posters that their stupid theory that a "secular Iraqi government couldn't possibly make deals with fundamentalist religious nuts like al Qaeda" was so much BS.

That goes waaay beyond just trying our Marines in the Media.

The skunk I smell wants to try our troops in the World Court. Now ain't that just globally socialist of them?

It also reeks of typical Vietnam era agitprop.

I do not know if these men are guilty or not, but damnit, I want them to have a fair trial.

I recall that there was a ISP that was providing server space for terrorist groups pre-invasion. I don't know it was Uruknet.

But Uruknet certainly is performing that function post-invasion, as even the hard left Indymedia admits:

Who was REALLY behind the Terror Attack on the Shi'ite Mosque?

Kurt Nimmo, our favorite potty poet, writer of poetry about hemorrhoids, is a contributor to the Uruknet web site, a web site serving the exiled Iraqi Baathists loyal to Saddam Hussein
