Dixie Blimps are back on tour? I may go if they play warm-up for Buddy Holly.

Their promoters are in panic mode right now. It'll be funny to see how the liberal media spin the Chicks tour debacle in the Red States.

The spin for the Red State tour debacle is starting...

"Due to the overwhelming demand for the Dixie Chicks in Canada, England and Australia, this concert date must be rerouted and the on-sale will be postponed until the fall. Check back to the Savvis Center website for more information as it becomes available."

Dixie Chicks generate 'disappointing' show sales

Only about half the tickets to the Dixie Chicks Oct. 3 GEC show were sold in the first weekend tix went on sale, arena chief Hugh Lombardi confirmed yesterday.

Half-sold is usually a pretty good opening weekend of ticket sales for an arena show, but back in 2003, the Chicks nearly sold out a GEC date in the first weekend of sales.

The story isn't playing out just in Nashville. About 20 Dixie Chicks shows went on sale this past weekend, and a source close to the tour called nationwide sales "disappointing."

Still, there were bright spots. Toronto, for instance, added a second show.

Neither a Chicks' publicist nor a publicist for their record label could be reached yesterday.

Slow concert ticket sales were a little surprising for some because the Chicks' just-released album, Taking the Long Way, has been No. 1 in sales for all genres for the past two weeks, selling a total of about 775,000 copies so far.

But others weren't surprised at all. Wade Jessen, Billboard magazine's director of country charts, pointed to the fact that the Chicks' two new radio singles both failed to break into the top 30 on country charts.

"There's absolutely no radio penetration on anything for this new album," Wade said. "Here's an act off the radio and without a studio album for three years, so I can't say that's entirely surprising" that they have slow concert ticket sales.

Still, the GEC expects the Nashville show will sell out, in part because it's still four months away

American Idols Live Claims Top Spot on TicketsNow's May Entertainment Index at #1

CHICAGO, June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Wicked was finally dethroned in May from its number one spot on TicketsNow's index of best selling events. The American Idols Live tour, with 6.30% of overall sales, was the top seller on TicketsNow. The tour is shaping up to be the biggest concert series of the summer, leading the concert category with 17.05% of sales.

"With American Idol winner Taylor Hicks and runner-up Katharine McPhee bringing their substantial fan bases, it is not a surprise that the concert series is an instant success," says Kenneth Dotson, Chief Marketing Officer for TicketsNow. "This show appeals to a wide variety of our customers." Wicked didn't fall far; it dominated the theater category with 36.72% of sales and maintaining the number two spot overall, with 5.85%. Monty Python's Spamalot also had a strong showing this month coming in at number two in the theater category with 10.17% of sales.

As the summer heats up, the drama of baseball season continues to build. Baseball teams occupy five of the top ten spots overall in the TicketsNow May Entertainment Index. The New York Yankees climbed to the number three spot overall, with 4.28% of sales and claimed the number one spot in the sports category from long time rival the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox dropped to the number two spot in sports in May and to fourth in overall sales.

The battle between pop and country still continues to be a close one in the concert category.

Tim McGraw edged out Madonna in May in the concert category behind the American Idols Live Tour. McGraw notched 7.87% of concert sales while Madonna came in third at 5.47%. Wait a minute. Dallas is in a red state but Tacoma is in a blue state.
Yep, there are plenty of Bush-hating libs in the Seattle-Tacoma area. But apparently not many willing to shell out their $$$ to see a country show. This is the same city where urban liberal elites will drop $280 for a pair of Elton John tickets. My guess is they are saving their entertainment dollars for something else.

Nashville-Meltdown Disaster

Imagine that?! They trash the most popular country stars in the country and expect to welcomed?! Hello, Dixie witches. I know you think you are special but even the "View" hates you now since you trashed them too. This after they gave you a start when you couldn't buy breakfast.

That is not correct Melas. The "Twister" tried to slip it in and got their hand slapped.

On the way home from work today (in Dallas) I heard during the news segment on an "Adult Contemporary" station that concert ticket sales for the Chicks in Dallas were very slow and it looked like the concert would be canceled.

Looks like that’s a bet you’d loose.
