From the first article I linked, there is this bit:

"Simon said Tuesday the campaign had "clarified my position immediately" after the flurry of publicity about the questionnaire. But no such clarification came up last week when Simon appeared in Sacramento and San Francisco.

"At that time, he said he stood by his positions on domestic partners, workplace discrimination and adoption by gay couples, although he said he might re-evaluate his support for a Gay Pride Day."

Los Angeles -- In a critical meeting in his effort to court gay Republicans, Bill Simon expressed unqualified support for gay equality and the rights of domestic partners, say several members of the gay community who attended the meeting.

Nothing quite like hearsay, eh counselor? You'll have to do better. My bet is that Simon used weasel words but made no promises and that the Log Cabins present took it and tried to paine him into a corner with it.

It is an admission against interest, and therefore admissible hearsay. But you are free not to connect the dots, and believe that everybody other than Simon is lying about these matters, and someone forged Simon's signature, etc. In any event, it explains why I voted for Davis. I don't have much patience with those whom I consider to be dishonest. THAT is what is a hot button issue with me. Other than that, I could care less what Simon's positions were on gay issues. I consider that about a third tier issue in California. I hope that helps.

I gotta sick feeling this is gonna get through, but I'm going to make sure it isn't by my 1 vote.

You'll be glad to hear that in the latest Field poll, it's now losing by 41% to 46% with 13% undecided.

The state IS a political zoo. And it just keeps getting worse. Now, it is about free nursery school for everyone.

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

You and Torie just made my point for me -- those who are running around agitating against Arnold because he is "not conservative enough" are the very same ones who run off and vote for a leftist Dem AGAINST a Republican, as Torie admitted to voting FOR Davis, helping to defeat Simon.

Carry_Okie -- you and the rest of the so-called "conservatives" are DOING THE SAME thing, helping the Dems defeat Arnold. Torie was at least honest about it.

My point, that while obviously I disagree with your vote for Davis, but Carry_Okie bashing you for it, when what he is advocating is exactly the same thing -- a Dem win -- is hypocritical.

I remember Simon waffling on the gay issue too. He didn't handle it very well when accused.

Anyway, this is how Davis beat Lundgren and how Boxer beat Fong. They use homosexuals as a wedge issue to demoralize the conservatives and call the Republican candidate "mean-spirited" if he doesn't support gay rights.

Still, I would have crawled through a moat filled with alligators to vote for Simon.

I'm confused. I have never seen Torie claim that anyone is "not conservative enough", in fact, I see the exact opposite (usually taking a more moderate stance). That seems to support Carry_Okie's claim that, when push comes to shove, moderate Republicans are not supportive of the more conservative candidates.

That preschool initiative would have been shot dead even here in Wisconsinstan. I really feel for you Californians.

Is it really possible that Californians are not willing to pay for cradle to graduation day care?

I'm encouraged about California politics. That's the first time since the last election when Arnold's initiatives all went down.

I am a big fan of the "conservative troglodyte" McClintock. Put that one in your knapsack. :) Venn diagrams can overlap.

Troglodyte? lol.
I noticed that you said you voted for McClintock. Good.

Have you ever posted that a Republican candidate is "not conservative enough"?

But I have posted that McCain is tempermentally unsuited to be president, come to think of it. Do I get bonus points for that?
