(Cardinal) Pell steps up war of words on Islam
Sydney Morning Herald ^ | June 6, 2006 | Linda Morris

Posted on 06/06/2006 6:11:04 AM PDT by NYer

THE country's most influential Catholic has offended Islamic leaders for the second time in a month by declaring Islam more warlike than Christianity.

Australia had not been much changed by the rising Islamic threat after September 11, 2001, the Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell, said. But this could change depending "on how many terrorist attacks" Islamic extremists could "bring off successfully".

"The million-dollar question" was whether intolerance was a modern distortion of Islam or arose out of internal logic.

"It's difficult to find periods of tolerance in Islam. I'm not saying they're not there, but a good deal of what is asserted is mythical."

Dr Pell's comments came in an interview in Rome with John L. Allen, a well-regarded correspondent of National Catholic Reporter. Allen suggested that under the new Pope, Benedict XVI, a more hawkish climate has developed and Islam is being directly challenged on issues of terrorism and religious freedom.

Only last month Dr Pell stirred controversy when he asserted that the Koran was riddled with "invocations to violence", and Islam was not a tolerant religion.

Keysar Trad of the Islamic Friendship Association said Dr Pell's statement showed he had no understanding of Islam.

Let's be honest. Offending "peaceful" Islam is as innocent as still continuing to breathe. A great deal of these people appear to have been born pissed off and live their entire lives looking for an opportunity to explode in fits of rage.

How many people did Moe-hammad (Pork be Upon Him) kill? Thousands.

How many people did Christ kill? -1 (Lazarus puts him one up.)

I think we see which religion has the violent roots.

DR.???? Calling Cardinal Pell, Dr. Pell is like calling President Bush, Mr. Bush.
Nothing else to do but backhandedly insult when the truth hurts.

***"It's difficult to find periods of tolerance in Islam. I'm not saying they're not there, but a good deal of what is asserted is mythical."***

I believe if you look it up, the periods of Tolerance in Islam were periods where they were killed down until they were weak. I believe that is what we must do now. Kill them down until they cant make war.

In reality thats how all wars are won. Political correctness be damned. Its the only way to win.

Dead on correct!

Words like these keep me optimistic because so many of us still have a sense of survival.

THE country's most influential Catholic has offended Islamic leaders for the second time in a month by declaring Islam more warlike than Christianity.

I didn't even realize that Christianity was "warlike." As I see it, Christ never advocated war, killing, beheading, political takeover or any other of a host of issues sponsored by the Koran. The Bible doesn't advocate world conquest in the name of the Living God.

Islam and Christianity are diametrical ideologies, polar opposites. It's even safe to say that Islam counters Judeo-Christianity directly as even evidenced by most muslim controlled states' social and political policies and laws.

Just waiting now, for the usual lunatics to start comparing the Catholic church of 600 years ago with the "tolerant" muderous islam of today.

At its worst, the Catholic church was an incompetent also-ran in sheer brutality and murderousness of the typical muslim culture that we are "lucky" enough to be experiencing today.

"In reality thats how all wars are won."

Wars are not won by men dying for their country. They are won by men killing other men who die for THEIR country.

To paraphrase Patton (I think).

Straight from the Koran:

[5.51] O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

[8.39] And fight with them until there is no more persecution and religion should be only for Allah; but if they desist, then surely Allah sees what they do.

[9.29] Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

[9.30] And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!

I mean honestly, WTH is someone reading that supposed to believe or think, that muslims want to befriend anyone that's Christian or Jewish? That'd be not only self-imposed ignorance, but pure idiocy.

You'll also notice that media references to Martin Luther King Jr. almost always use the title "Dr. King", not "Rev. King" or "Rev. Dr. King". They also do a great job of managing not to quote any of the phrases where he invokes the Almighty when talking about the source of authority for his objectives.
