Nothing wrong with carrying one in the pipe with a DA.

IMO, it comes down to a matter of competency. This idiot would have shot himself with a 1911 cocked and locked.

like i said *COPS* haven't learned. i've carried my sig with one in the pipe, and i've carried my 1911 cocked and locked. when i hunt, i've got one in the chamber in my long gun, or 6 in the wheel gun. every cop i have met- especially the pricks that do the "safety inspections" at three different local PDs that have no clue what safe handling is. the cops typically will play with, and look at the weapon with their finger on the trigger, and even dry fire it- without the idiot checking the chamber!
i understand gun safety, most cops don't.

Gotta get by the safety first. That little "trigger tit" safety on a Glock is bad news. You draw fast and your finger is anywhere near it, the damn thing could go off. With a 1911, at least you gotta make some substantive movement of the external safety. No comparison between the two and I own about 4 of both kinds.
