July 4 is the quintessential American holiday. It is a boisterous celebration of the birthing of the U.S. and the wonderful independence which has made our great nation the most powerful and influential country this world has ever known.
This independence could never have come about were it not for firearms. Our forefathers were liberty-hungry upstarts who utilized their skills as marksmen to overthrow an oppressive government. Knowing full well that arming of citizens is necessary for the maintenance of liberty and peace by offering the ability to fend off not only potential invaders but future oppression as well, these great men later put into law that we as Americans have an inalienable right to bear arms. Firearms, in essence, are an integral part of Americana. That is why it can perceived to be a slap in the face that the United Nations will be conducting its Small Arms Review Conference here, on American soil, during the July 4 holiday. The UN, which is supposedly the catalyst of universal freedom, is holding this annual conference as a means to determine methods by which to disarm common people from the world over. They want to disarm them not only of justifiably-maligned assault rifles, but also of the pistols, rifles, and shotguns which are a welcome part of leisure pursuits and are vital to the protection of home and family.
By doing so, the UN would not be making the world a safer place. Taking firearms out of the hands of citizens and leaving militaries and police-states as the only armed entities (besides criminals) takes accountability out of the hands of governments that have oppressive tendencies. Such dictatorial and militant regimes murdered nearly 170 million people in the last century and the only way to prevent such tyranny and maintain personal liberty is through gun ownership.
Through the insinuation that America should follow suit with these anti-gun demands - best exemplified by the disrespectful scheduling of this event - the UN is lumping us in with these evil, murderous lands. We as Americans fortunately know better. Our nation is the model for personal liberty and what it results in: an unyielding success in capitalistic and cultural endeavors. There is very little that is oppressive of U.S. rule.
If anything, the U.S. should be the best example of the positives of gun ownership.
But, it cant be. This attack on human rights is widely promoted amongst the UNs rank and file through the use of spin. Focusing on urban murder rates, Americas drug culture, and Hollywoods glorification of gun violence (which is disseminated throughout the world), they are keen on painting America as the poster child for necessary firearm reform.
Though believed by many, such spin is nonfactual and biased. It is using criminal events not lawful activities and fictional entertainment to define the usage of guns. The vast majority of gun usage is in direct contrast to such propaganda.
Such anti-American sentiment is par for the course with the UN. Kofi Annan and his ilk always seem to be against the U.S., possessive of a veritable feeling of jealousy. This disdain is created by the fact that we succeed where the UN fails as the worlds police force. The UN and its pedestrian mentalities allow the world to collapse around us, and typically it is the US that steps up to the plate to save it. We use power kinetically, not potentially.
All Americans should be disappointed if not disgusted with what the holier-than-thou UN wants to do with us and our guns. Our Constitution gave us rights that they want to take away. As proponents of the One World Order mentality, they want the entire world to be as one, eliminating the sovereignty that makes each independent nation unique unto itself. By striving to take firearms away from all, they are taking this mentality to the extreme, and ultimately ensuring oppression that is global in scale.

England banned their guns but their murder rate didn't go down and their home invasion rate sky-rocketed. Recent knife murders there have started a movement to ban knives.
In 1998, UN Secretary General acknowledged the UN failure [in Rwanda]:
"... The world must deeply repent this failure. Rwanda's tragedy was the world's tragedy. All of us who cared about Rwanda, all of us who witnessed its suffering, fervently wish that we could have prevented the genocide. . . Now we know that what we did was not nearly enough--not enough to save Rwanda from itself, not enough to honor the ideals for which the United Nations exists."
The ideals for which the UN exists is to make the poor dumb workers of the world forfeit a lot of hard-earned money in order to support a bunch of corrupt clowns. That's bad enough - now they want the whole world to be populated by defenseless slaves. I say again -UN go to hell.
I have been unable to find any other information on the July 4th conference from reputable news sources other than the NRA.org website. Here is a link to the United Nations website:

There, that's more like it.
I guess you haven't been paying much attention to the activities surrounding dissolving the borders. That is a move that is being accomplished regardless of the will of the people.
The US is no longer soveriegn.
The government's greatest fear is that history will repeat itself.
But as they say on "The Unit", "Only head shots".
Every time some one posts this picture I feel tempted to say (and I'm giving in this time) that the ones comng for your guns will be local and federal police with perhaps the military in assistance. Look at New Orleans.
It was the POLICE who were leading the gun grabbing charge with some assistance (or so I understand) from the national guard at checkpoints. Unless Amercans are willing to realize that American equivalent of the Einstazgruppen is going to be officer friendly and react accordingly this anti-gun crap will come to pass (provided of course anti-gun Bush or his anti-gun replacement whoever that is signs US on with the UN)
"The US is no longer soveriegn."
I think that's a little extreme.
It's no coincidence that it cannot and will not do anything to preserve freedom or sovereignty in any nation.
And it will not do anything to rebuke terriorist nations and those who have an abysmal record of human rights. Heck, those nations hold some of the most influential positions!
Has anything been organized?
You are absolutely correct! The main target should never be overlooked however :>)
Yeah, I've had that comment before and keep meaning to fix it.
Getting trapped in an urban center, unprepared and dependent on others, with no plan of action, is a damned foolish thing to do. As abhorrent as what the New Orleans police did may be, it's a very instructive lesson in lefty politics. The more conservative parishes of Plaquemines, St. Bernard and Jefferson were bristling with firearms, yet no attempt to to confiscate firearms, even in areas that were badly flooded.
D'oh!! Make that "no attempt was made to..."
