Democrats are now even further angry with their hero Zarqawi gone that this may cost Lieberman the Democratic primary.

Rest assured that the democRAT machine will do its best to take Lieberman out.If they swamp him with ads,etc,they could very well succeed.

If that happens,let's hope that Joe runs as an Independent.If he does,and wins,he could even caucus with us.

Joe should move to NY like Hillary did and run as a Republican.

Then the Democrats will lose their only Senator with some common sense. Well, Nelson will still be in.

Lieberman's not exactly Scoop Jackson, but he's a decent guy and has more sense than a lot of prominent Democrats. I'd hate to see some uber-lefty take his place.

If this Lamont guy gets elected, he'll be about the most leftist senator, save for Bernie Sanders.

Lamont was born into wealth, but then, due to McCain-Feingold-Shays-Meehan, being rich is about the only way to finance a campaign, as raising funds to do tv ads in $2,000 increments is damned inefficient.

Lamont has sort of taken a knee-jerk hard left position on everything. If he wins, he'll be one of several extremely leftist Senators. However, Lieberman is still up in the polls quite a bit.

Among all Democrats, Sen. Lieberman leads 57 - 32 percent, compared to 65 - 19 percent in a May 2 poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.

All Connecticut voters approve 56 - 32 percent of the job Lieberman is doing. Democrats approve 49 - 38 percent, down from 60 - 31 percent May 2.

In possible general election matchups:

    * Lieberman defeats Republican challenger Alan Schlesinger 68 - 14 percent;
    * Lamont beats Schlesinger 37 - 20 percent, with 34 percent undecided;
    * Running as an independent, Lieberman gets 56 percent, to 18 percent for Lamont and 8 percent for Schlesinger.
