Despite a blizzard of negative press coverage, Ann Coulters new book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism has surged all the way to No. 1 on Amazon.coms list of bestsellers -- just two days after its official publication. [Editors Note: Get Anns book much cheaper than Amazon! Go Here Now]
On Wednesday Hillary Clinton lashed out at Coulter for what she called her "vicious, mean-spirited attack on a group of outspoken 9/11 widows, whom the conservative television pundit described as "self-obsessed, and said Coulters book should have been called "heartless.
The media attack on Coulter began Tuesday with her first book interview on NBCs Today Show. Host Matt Lauer claimed that Coulter had cruelly criticized several 9/11 widows.
But criticism from the establishment media hasnt hurt sales of Coulters book at all.
In "Godless, Coulter argues that in addition to being a political movement and philosophy, liberalism is a twisted religion whose deity is itself and she details liberalisms war on traditional religion and God. All of Coulters previous books have also been New York Times bestsellers: "How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must), "Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right, "Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism and "High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton.
"You lose any right to be treaded with the respect of grieving window, when you become a rabid political attack dog."
Again - you avoided my question- actually 2 questions.
I asked you if it is the christian thing to do to personally attack them and their marriages. No answer.
I also asked you what does a grieving widow look like nearly 5 years after the loss of her husband? I asked because you are claiming they aren't acting like grieving widows should act. No answer.
GO ANN GO!
"GO ANN GO!"
Ann rocks!
"It's considered unusual for "grieving widows" to be out parting and making rabid political attack ads that are full of lies."
First let's talk about the "partying".
Are you really saying grieving widows don't ever again go out of the house after their husbands die?
I get that you would like to attack their political ideas....I don't get why you think you are an expert on the behavior of grieving widows.
What if it were a conservative grieving widow wearing a mini-skirt (much like Ann's skirts) and going out of the house 5 years after her loss?
What then?
"I fired back right at you on that one.
Read up."
No. You never did.
I asked you to describe what a grieving widow looks like.
You never described it to me.
"What does Christianity have to do with it?
This is politics."
You're kidding right? Or do you suffer from short term memory loss?
I made the point that Ann boldly declares herself a christian. She has written that it is her christian beliefs that inspire her.
That is what christianity has to do with it.
I got it for about 10 bucks on Audible.com, and I get to listen to Ann read it to me in bed for 13 hours.
"Nice try."
I take it from this response you cannot back up your insinuation that you know what grieving widows should or should not do?
"Your harpies didn't merely come up with "political ideas".
They called President Bush a murderer.
That's as personal as you can get.
They shouldn't complain when they get personal attacks back."
They aren't my harpies.
Whatever they said about Bush doesn't meant they are enjoying their husband's deaths.
My christian upbringing taught me that two wrongs don't make a right.
Ann calls herself a christian - proudly so.
If conservatives want to say this behavior as acceptable, then they really ought to stop whining about how awful the liberals are when they behave like children.
"Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like liberals do. They don't have the energy. If they had that much energy, they'd have indoor plumbing by now," she said.
I think we have our share of liberals here on FR also.
"What they said about President Bush WAS as personal as you can get.
From that point on, they left themselves open to personal attacks too.
One shouldn't start something without thinking of the consequences.
They were grown women. They knew what they were doing."
We are going in circles.
When these women entered the political arena they certainly did open themselves up to criticism. When they push liberal ideas and attack the president, they should be called on it.
Some posters here did it very well without once calling them names, without uselessly speculating on their marriages, and without telling them to pose naked.
When Ann lowers herself to that level it does nothing to help conservatism - but it does help her sell books.
"You should go out more and feel the pulse of the party."
I will agree with you on that. I really should go out more.
But as I am living my conservative lifestyle (traditional marriage, 6 children) That becomes difficult.
