Edward Klein’s new book about President Obama, The Amateur, has already made some news, particularly with regard to allegations that an ally of Obama’s offered the odious Reverend Jeremiah Wright a $150,000 bribe to keep his mouth shut during the 2008 presidential campaign. And the title of the book is a quote from Bill Clinton, who was said to be urging his wife to challenge Obama for the Democrat nomination in 2012. That’s pretty sensational stuff, but the media has been studiously ignoring Klein’s book. NewsBusters noted on Tuesday that none of the mainstream media networks have interviewed Klein on...

Potential 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will soon hit the best-seller list. The former Arkansas governor's new book, "A Simple Government," will debut in the number two spot on the Hardcover Advice, How-To and Miscellaneous Best-Seller List to be published March 20th, according to the Times. Huckabee, who ran for president in the 2008 election, has said he will not decide on another White House bid until the summer. Two other political books, also authored by Fox News commentators, will land on the same list. "Revolt!: How to Defeat Obama and Repeal His Socialist Programs," by Eileen McGann and...

Governor Palin is ready for the next chapter of her publishing career. Publisher HarperCollins announced Wednesday that the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate is working on a "celebration of American virtues and strengths." The book is currently untitled and no release date has been set. Nervous and curious McCain-Palin staffers have been buzzing for weeks with speculation about what Sarah Palin has chosen to include in “Going Rogue.” Books have begun being shipped out in advance of the November 17th release date. Last week, some of Palin's associates received copies. Based on discussions with various sources who have seen or been briefed on the book's contents, here's what you can expect from “Going Rogue”: * just five chapters—but they are very, very long. * some score settling with McCain aides she believes ill-served her (names will be named). * a hearty bashing of the national...

According to The Huffington Post, Michelle Malkin, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck and other right-of-center stars that regularly dominate the New York Times Hardcover Non-Fiction Bestsellers List are - or should be - in a league of their own. No, that isn't Arianna Huffington's blog heaping praise on conservative authors. It's a literal suggestion. With right-leaning books and authors holding so many spots on the list, and more to come - former Sarah Palin, former Dick Cheney and President George W. Bush all have books due out -Huffington Post suggests conservatives should have their own category to differentiate from other works...

Just when you think that the country is on a road to hell paved with good intentions. Just when you think that there's no chance of recovering from the government's insanity. Just when you think that American are so mesmerized by the empty rhetoric of "hope and change," and have distanced themselves so far from the U. S. Constitution, that they're willing to accept the false security of Socialism in exchange for their liberty, along comes a bright light at the end of the tunnel. The past several months have been depressing to say the least.

Forty-eight days before the release and she’s already topped Dan Brown’s latest conspiracy-theory casserole at both top retailers. To put that in perspective, note that the book doesn’t even have a cover yet. So much for the Page Six hit piece about demand for her being slack. No way to tell yet, obviously, whether the monster launch will have legs or whether it’ll deflate a bit next week after Palinistas are all done ordering their advance copies. But if it goes on to become a mega-seller, it’s a game-changer insofar as it’ll establish her unquestionably as the most prominent Republican...

Sarah Palin''s new book, "Going Rogue, an American Life" was announced only two days ago and it's already zooming to the top of the bestsellers lists, even though it won't be released until November 17th. Preorders for the former Alaska governor's book have amazingly already made it No. 1 on both Barnes & Noble.com and Amazon.com.

Conservatives are resuming their historically dominant position atop the New York Times and Amazon.com bestsellers lists after a short hiatus that coincided, not coincidentally, with George W. Bush's tenure in the White House. While the mainstream media raved about a new era of leftist intellectual supremacy during the liberal ascendance on the bestsellers lists, the return of conservative books to the tops of those lists seems to be going unnoticed. Amazon, which, unlike the New York Times, ranks books according to the number of actual copies sold, shows Glenn Beck's Common Sense rounding out the top, with Michelle Malkin's Culture...

Funny (in a pathetic way) how Ann's book is being reviewed by the hate-spammers on A.com, who haven't read it. Or haven't seen her lately, either, since a few of them think she still has her jaw wired shut. By the pattern of reviews, it's clear that reviewers either love or hate her, with most reviews falling on the extremes of the spectrum, either 1-star or 5-star. And the reviews and discussion threads read like FR. Except. Those who hate tend toward the highly intellectual insights such as . . . "I am no Liberal, but ann is an A...

Hi everyone! And a Happy New Year as well! ity's time for my quarterly "What Are You Reading Now?" thread. I do this to gauge what Freepers (who by the way, are a very well-read group) are reading right now. It can be anything...a best seller, a technical journal, an old classic, even a trashy pulp novel. Please do not defile this thread by replying "I'm Reading This Thread". It became very unfunny a long time ago. Serious replies only, please. I'll start. I'm about 5 pages into "One Day In September" by Simon Reeve. It's about the disaster involving...

Despite a blizzard of negative press coverage, Ann Coulter’s new book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism” has surged all the way to No. 1 on Amazon.com’s list of bestsellers -- just two days after its official publication. [Editor’s Note: Get Ann’s book much cheaper than Amazon! Go Here Now] On Wednesday Hillary Clinton lashed out at Coulter for what she called her "vicious, mean-spirited attack” on a group of outspoken 9/11 widows, whom the conservative television pundit described as "self-obsessed,” and said Coulter’s book should have been called "heartless.” The media attack on Coulter began Tuesday with her first book...

LONDON (Reuters) - Author Dan Brown did not copy material from an earlier book when he wrote "The Da Vinci Code", his best-selling religious thriller at the center of a copyright case, a lawyer told London's High Court on Tuesday. With over 36 million copies of his novel in circulation and a major Hollywood adaptation due for release in May, the stakes are high in a case brought against Brown's British publishers by historians Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh. In opening arguments for the defense, publisher Random House said that much of the "central theme" of "The Holy Blood, and...

Camerino, Italy, January 10 - A university lecturer sacked for secretly filming sex sessions with students has told all in his first book . Law professor Ezio Capizzano, dubbed ‘the porno prof’ by the Italian media, gives lavish details of his amorous encounters in the book, which he has called The Last Baron In A Campus of Tulips. When it emerged in 2002 that he had video-taped his “one-to-one” tutorials he became a household name in Italy and a role model for ageing Casanovas. Far from condemning him, the media lauded Prof Capizzano. The respected Corriere della Sera newspaper described...

As well as being extraordinarily popular, the [Harry Potter] books have encouraged millions of children to start reading for the first time.... For those who have a problem with the idea of fantasy and alternative universes alongside ours, we need to recognize that almost all children play imaginative games in their minds starting at a very young age and have no difficulty whatsoever in distinguishing between fantasy and reality.... Additionally, the Harry Potter books send a strong message about moral order. There are beautiful and enjoyable human relationships among the characters, and there is a depth of commitment and service...

Edward Klein's book "The Truth About Hillary" has made the New York Times best-seller list for the second week in a row - a development that has the Times book review spitting mad. As NewsMax reported over a week ago, Klein debuted on the Times list this week in the No. 2 slot. Despite an orchestrated campaign to keep Klein off major TV talk shows, NewsMax has learned that the best-selling author will be on the Times list next week as well, in the No. 4 position. The liberal Gray Lady apparently doesn't like the fact that one of its...

Bill Clinton's memoir joins 'Harry Potter' as a bestseller in Iranian bookshops By Agence France Presse (AFP) Friday, July 01, 2005 TEHRAN: Iranians may shout "Death to America" and burn the Stars and Stripes in demonstrations, but the memoir of former U.S. President Bill Clinton is on its way to becoming a runaway bestseller in the country. According to publisher Farhang Fattemi, who has just released the book, "many Iranians like the United States and want to hear history straight from the horse's mouth." First published in the U.S. last summer, "My Life" has hit the shelves in Iran in...

The infamous manifesto penned in prison during the 1920s by one of history’s greatest despots has become a bestseller in Turkey, a troubling sign of increasing anti-Semitism and anti-Americanism. Since January, Mein Kampf has sold more than 50,000 copies, rising to No. 4 on the bestseller list. The book outlines Hitler's plans for world domination and his intense hatred of the Jewish people. "A lot of people in the West don't realize this has always been a popular book among radical Muslims," says Steve Hagerman, founder of Turkish World Outreach. "They think it’s a tragedy Hitler didn’t win the war....

I read somewhere that Savage told his audience to call into Rush's, Sean's, and Mark Levin's radio shows for the sole purpose of promoting his book. Does anyone know if this is true? I would find it a bit cheap as it is if a general nobody asked their fans to do the same on these 3 men's shows. But someone like Savage, who has spent the last 6 months doing nothing but blasting these three? Its a cheap and dirty tactic, if it is true.

I'm being told by a reliable source that Unfit for Command may debut as number one one the NYT bestseller list. However, I do have a few questions... 1) In what week will it debut? 2) Will the NYT now have to review the book? 3) Will this affect the ability of the media to ignore it? 4) If it has been #1 on amazon, BN, etc. for quite some time, why hasn't it already hit the list? You'll have to excuse my ignorance here, but I'm not really familiar with book list procedures at the NYT. P.S. Please don't...

Hume looks to be going after the story. Asking ALL the right questions. Basically the main topic was whether the other Swift Boat people would have been considered as "serving" with John Kerry. Lt Col Bill Cowan who served on a Swift Boat said "Absolutely!" In FACT, someone on another boat might be able to BETTER see what was going on on Kerry's boat than the men on the boat themselves because they have a panoramic view of the scene.

ARIZONA DAILY STAR Tucson attorney, Second Amendment crusader and raconteur David T. Hardy is at it again. His latest book, "Michael Moore is a Big Fat Stupid White Man," ($22.95, Reganbooks, with co-author Jason Clarke) is in its fourth week on the New York Times Bestseller List. Hardy says the reaction to the book has been "a load of hate mail, but a lot of sales." He hasn't spoken to Moore himself about it. "No, I fear he will not see the puckish humor involved," Hardy jokes. Hardy, 53, a Libertarian, previously challenged the Brady handgun law in court and...

A new book that challenges the idea the U.S. is in a full-blown economic recovery is getting big notice -- and just hit #7 on the New York Times Business Bestseller list. Maverick investment authors Bill Bonner and Addison Wiggin make these and other claims in "Financial Reckoning Day: Surviving The Soft Depression Of The 21st Century." Don't believe the latest economic numbers, they say, adding, "History shows us that investing has less to do with raw economic data and statistics–the domain of most other investment books–and more to do old rules, metaphors, and experience." "Financial Reckoning Day" offers...

With Mr. Blumenthal at the helm, readers of the American Guardian could expect stories such as the one that he let drop during his conversation with The Transom. According to Mr. Blumenthal, evidence of the "vast right-wing conspiracy" once proclaimed by Hillary Clinton can be found on The New York Times Book Review's best-seller list. "What I think the key question is for Ann Coulter and all these other right-wing writers is, why is there a dagger in the New York Times best-seller list next to their books?" Mr. Blumenthal said in reference to the small symbol that appears next...

Dick Morris Lands on Best-Seller List; Coulter Crushes Hillary Dick Morris tells us that his book "Off with Their Heads: Traitors, Crooks & Obstructionists in American Politics, Media & Business," has opened at No. 11 on the New York Times' best-seller list. Considering that the book lambastes the Times for its bias and corruption, the Old Gray Lady must be turning purple with rage. By the way, several readers wanted us to alert people about some interesting changes in Amazon's best-seller list. As of this writing: Ann Coulter's "Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism"...

LONDON - Thousands of Harry Potter books worth nearly $1.7 million were stolen from a warehouse in the north of England over the weekend, police said today. The copies of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth in JK Rowling's series on the boy wizard, were stolen in a late-night heist on Merseyside on Sunday, a police spokeswoman said. The most eagerly awaited book of the year is due to be released on June 21 amid much fanfare. The first four books have sold almost 200 million copies in 55 languages and 200 countries.

Heaven or Hell While walking down the street one day a certain female senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies. Her soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. "Welcome to Heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you." "No problem, just let me in," says the lady. "Well, I'd like to but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one...

Talk-show terror Michael Savage's sign-off is, "Be here, or else you'll be nowhere!" So that's what Ikea translates to. Nowhere. I always wondered.Anyway, it was a preferable place to be on Saturday afternoon at 2, battling slow-moving herds of fellow short-tempered shoppers while debating the spouse about shelving units. All in all, a pulse-quickening experience brimming with value. The same cannot be said of the lackluster kickoff of "The Savage Nation" on MSNBC, which, for purposes of practicality, I recorded for later viewing. What a waste of electricity. And a cassette. I don't say this because of the views...

The caller faxed a copy of the bestseller list to Sean's show, and I found a copy with the same description at the link above. PARIS, June 21 - Even before the fires were extinguished at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, conspiracy theories began flooding the Internet. Okay, I just got this text by email this (er, I mean, yesterday) afternoon and stayed up till now translating. Learned a fair amount of history and etymology in the process, as you'll see. God, can this woman write. She is the Cicero of this war, and one day these articles of hers will be compiled and read the way students used to read the Phillippics. Once again, I offer what follows with disclaimers: I am not authorized by or associated with Ms. Fallaci, and this is only a woefully inadequate attempt to convey to Americans the experience of her...
