I have some sympathy for your point of view, although, I'm not sure that there every was the genteel public discourse that we think we remember.

I just visited DU and un-believably there is a long thread sympathizing with some dolt crying over his mothers death from a botched hotel room abortion. ABORTION REALLY IS A SACRAMENT TO democRATS.

Wow. And I'm sure they're all blaming Republicans/Conservatives for that. I assume this happened years ago, so it's too early to be "Bush's fault".

That is ABSOLUTELY the best collage of clips from Ann! Her cleverness, and quickness with the quip, just slay me!!

"I'm worried about her. I fear we're about to witness an unraveling that won't be very pretty."

Please stop watching the lying MSM News. You are clearly infected with the pathogen that they are determined to spread around in order to infect us all.

The book thoroughly excoriates the religion of the left. No wonder Ann's detractors can only spit upwind at her tone, while failing to address the substance. This is my first purchase of one of her books. Delighted to have a copy.

I guess I'm suffering from "outrage fatigue".
There is a whole market out of there for people who are outraged. Liberals outraged at conservatives.Conservatives outraged with liberals.
I stopped listening to Hannity quite awhile ago because I couldn't handle his constant state of agitation.
And Savage? man -0-man.

I'm attracted to conservative ideas because they appeal to common sense, and of course - they are usually right.

As far as nastiness and ugly name calling...I'm totally uninterested.

I'm fully aware of what the MSM is all about...and I'm quite capable of forming my own opinion on the matter.

I posted this last night on another thread, but as the Zarqawi Kablewy news was breaking, I doubt anybody read it.

The Jersey Girl comments are a couple of paragraphs out of a whole book that will be all of three days old tomorrow. I, (as well as most of you, I'm willing to guess) have yet to acquire a copy, let alone read it cover to cover. It is the Drive-by Media, the Fourth Estate that has become the Fifth Column, that chose these paragraphs in an attempt to smear Ann and her message, as well as us "nebbishes". In doing so, the Antique Media has made a colossal mistake. To all of you who think that this single bit of hyperbole harms the message, consider the following...

Ann Coulter. One either loves her or hates her or may never have heard of her. Those of us who are CoulterBotts would get the book even if there were NO mention of its existence in the MSM. The Moonbats would have the same reaction to it as Dracula does to Crosses. Sadly, a large percentage of the population is going "Ann who?".

Along comes the MSM smear machine and now Ann and her book are getting noticed by a lot of those people otherwise would have ignored it. A good chunk of those people will at least check it out of the library.

When they do take the time to read the WHOLE book and have a chance to digest Ann's entire thesis, I suspect almost nobody will come away thinking that the Jersey Girl paragraph negates the rest of the body of work.

Let me close by observing that Ann does not operate in a vacuum. There is a whole range of pundits whose styles range from scholarly and reasoned to fiery and passionate and there is room for them all in the pantheon of ideas.

Myself, I'm a 9/11 conservative. Once upon a time I was a Moonbat. I hated Rush, but I listened. Post 9/11 I found myself agreeing with him more and more. I found Fox News and Free Republic, O'Reilly, Hannity and Glenn Beck, and of course, Ann. Thanks to all who helped me turn from the dark side, if I could do it, I think a lot more can too. Goodnight.

"One doesn't have to personally attack these widows"

You can when those widows call the President a murderer and spew out the most viscous bile against President Bush, Condi Rice etc. There and then one can attack them with as much bile as they spew out.

"But maybe that won't sell as many books."

Cheap shot.
Ann Coulter was a best selling author before anyone even heard of these 4 harpies from Joisey.

Despite a blizzard of negative press coverage, Ann Coulter’s new book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism” has surged all the way to No. 1 on Amazon.com’s list of bestsellers

Correction: "BECAUSE of a blizzard of negative press coverage. . . " Coulter always has one outrageous statement in every book that the Old Media just can't resist screaming about. If she didn't, they'd ignore her.

She knows how to sell books.

Welcome aboard.

I had a different course in life...I was a conservative from the age of 10...a Nixon Republican to boot! (my dad was military, and I HATED what the left was saying about men like my dad...)

Again, I've come to EXPECT this type of thing from liberals because their ideas have been defeated.
The only weapon they have is cheap shots and smear tactics.

I guess I expect more out of conservatives because they don't HAVE to stoop to that level - their superior ideas speak for themselves.

"Cheap shot.

Sure she was a best selling author, and best selling authors like to keep it that way.

Funny that you said that because one reviewer, who gave the book five stars, criticized all the naysayers for "not reading the book, but rating it", or something to that effect.

"...and I'm quite capable of forming my own opinion on the matter."

I have little doubt about that.

Still, the unraveling part of your earlier post indicates that to me that you have not been paying attention for the last several years concerning these particular issues.

Ann is not crazy, but the MSM is simply apoplectic when it comes to dealing with her. You are someohow finding yourself in the wake of that and are not cognizant of that. Well, not according to what I saw in your post.

Makes one wonder what happened to Cheney's daughter to make her defect to the Left.

Hehe. I appreciate the fact that Ann Coulter is able to express my feelings toward liberals in a toned down, loving sort of way.

I don't get all my info from the MSM.
I got my info about the raghead comment from a conservative blog site.
It isn't only liberals who are wondering about Ann.

So - I could see where that would be appealing.
Someone is saying the very things you would only think - but not say out loud.

I would guess she had issues.

I don't agree with the homosexual lifestyle. I don't condone it or support it. But what people do in the privacy of their homes is their business. I just don't want society to put a homosexual couple on the same moral and societal plane as a man and a woman.

That said, I do have some degree of sympathy for many of those people. It cannot be a mentally healthy way of living with the self-loathing and so on that many of them confess to feel at some point or another.

That is probably what drove her away, but I honestly have no idea.
