Don't pop the corks (MSM Party Pooper Alert)
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 6/9/06 | Jay Bookman

In a time of increasingly bleak reports out of Iraq, the news that terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has finally been killed, along with several close aides, comes as welcome news to all Americans. More importantly, it should provide a much-needed boost of morale in Iraq as well, among our own troops and among the Iraqi people who have been al-Zarqawi's main victims.

"Arguably over the last several years, no single person on this planet has had the blood of more innocent men, women and children on his hands than Zarqawi," is how Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld put it. "He personified the dark, sadistic and medieval vision of the future — of beheadings, suicide bombings and indiscriminate killings."

With al-Zarqawi's death, justice — or at least as much justice as mere mortals can mete out on this earth — has finally been served.

However, as Rumsfeld, President Bush and others noted in celebrating al-Zarqawi's demise, this success may not have immense impact on the long-term direction of affairs in Iraq. Clearly, U.S. officials have learned a bit of caution after the false optimism that followed the killing of Saddam Hussein's sons, and later the capture of Saddam himself, neither of which altered the basic situation in Iraq.

Jay Bookman is the typical far left editorial writer for another failed attempt at a newspaper, the Atlanta Journal Constitution. I dont read his columns at home and recommend passing him by here.

The only "increasingly bleak" reports are the crapola that the MSM itself chooses to unceasingly crank out.

I can just see the Atlanta Urinal Constipation's story after this headline:

__________________________________________________________________

Christ Returns to Earth - Antichrist and Satan Defeated
Jesus Christ returned to earth in glory and defeated the armies of the Antichrist and then proceeded to chain up Satan and cast him in the lake of fire. After seven years of literally hell on earth, millions are rejoicing this morning.

However,........

By now, though, the violence may have acquired so much momentum that al-Zarqawi's death will do nothing to diminish it. The brutality taking place in Iraq is now being perpetrated by Iraqis against other Iraqis, not by outsiders such as al-Zarqawi, and only Iraqis have the power to stop it.

All those outside of the MSM that believe this say "Aye".

(Crickets chrirping...)

Thought so....

It's not called the "Atlanta Urinal and Constipation" for nothing.....

He forgot to write:

"I'm against the war, but I'm for the troops."

Isn't that supposed to be included in every article?

Perhaps ... but they have been one of McKinney's harshest critics ... which is good.

CNN thought it was a bad thing. (Not a peep about the brave military staying on target, etc..) Sure, Al Zarkawi hadn't been a nice guy, but he wasn't all that important -- in fact, in his hometown, growing up, some had called him a 'nitwit'. (Maybe he had a bad childhood, had been bullied, and wasn't to blame for anything he did!) As Fred Barnes said on Fox last night, let's see what Time and Newsweek have on their covers, how they play this...after this week's Haditha coverage. And the NYTimes. CNN took a swipe at the admin.'s reasons for going to war...again...saying any attempt to link Zarkawi with WMD's would be a lie.

The future of the MSM is very bleak indeed. :-)

Iraq is looking good, though.

Analysts on Fox last night pointed out that money had been spread around -- ten thousand bucks to the man who pointed out the safe house, and more money to others -- which made all this happen. They feel Iraqis will come forward now in greater numbers, trust the US, and bit by bit, defeat the terrorists. Iran and Syria are fomenting this violence, funneling arms and men into Iraq...CNN doesn't mention this interesting fact. So it's definitely not all 'homegrown'. CNN and the rest of the MSM are practically in tears over Zarqawi's demise. God forbid the war succeed.

Can you imagine when OBL goes down? The MSM will be spinning faster than a Kennmore front loader with a pair of baby socks. Only more off balance.
