BRITISH spies played a pivotal role in helping to nail al Zarqawi, The Sun can reveal.
MI6 officers helped identify the whereabouts of the al- Qaeda general and his henchmen before the US air strike. And the SAS were involved in a series of smash and grab raids to seize his aides nearby.
Senior sources confirmed last night that MI6 had worked for weeks with US and Jordanian counterparts.
They helped pinpoint al Zarqawi and his team in their safe houses leading directly to the bombing mission. A source said: The intelligence services and special forces have been working with American colleagues.
British intelligence played a role in helping to locate al Zarqawi. And special forces were involved in raids rounding up his men soon after.

Tony Blair's speech following the elimination of Al-Zaqawi was great. Despite everything, he has not wavered.

My reply to the Democrats and the UN:
Translated, it's the rude way of saying, "Go forth and multiply."

I'm thinking there were a few soiled dishdashes when the SAS came a-knockin'. That may be just as important as whacking Zarqawi, actually. Getting their media star was great, and getting the top echelon of his decentralized command structure is even better.
I'll hoist one to the lads tonight.

MI, the SUN may not be the UK's most credible source of news, right? I mean I hope they're right and appreciate very much the Brits help (I met some in Iraq), but I just wonder about the SUN.

No, there was a longer article from an American news source that said similarly yesterday.
The Sun tends to get things such as this correct.

I shoot regularly with a former member of SAS. We compete in IDPA matches and needless to say, he is a master class shooter.
Back in his day, he made regular excursions to Yemen and other ME environs.
What always struck me was that his superiors had brit dentists chip and score his teeth so he would better blend in.

So this was a coalition effort? Didn't see that anywhere in the MSM.

Your press is much more honest in the sense that they are what they are. Ours is full of hypocrites who pretend to be or want to be seen as "objective" when in fact they've got a hidden - barely now - agenda. If you buy the TELEGRAPH, you know you're getting a conservative outlook. The GUARDIAN is a leftwing paper and proud of it. The NYT is actually a Gay pro-Democrat paper but wants to pretend it's a just gathering the news.
All the best,

It's a good day for Great Britain, but it's got to be a bummer for Prince Charles Abdul Mohammed. When he assumes the tile "Defender of the Faith", what faith or we talking about?

When the BBC finds out M16 was involved, there'll be some loud complaints.

The BBC can complain all they like. Nothing they say is going to make the average Briton care about some raghead getting turned into fertiliser.

USAF hung the antlers over the door but appears likely that Sassy Boys snatched a better portion of prime meat for the table. Must be some heritage of poaching...

I am so proud of all our allies there, including the Iraqis, Jordanians, and (dare I say it) the Saudis. The way all of us cooperated in being able to dismantle at least the upper echelon of this hateful man's organization is very heartening.
Congratulations to our Brit friends, and thanks.
