Fidel Castro: Zarqawi Killing a 'Barbarity'
Newsmax.com ^ | June 10, 2006 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

President Fidel Castro called the U.S. airstrike that killed Abu Musab al-Zarqawi a "barbarity," saying he should have been put on trial.

The United States acted as "judge and jury" against the leader of the al-Qaida in Iraq, Castro said late Friday.

"They bragged, they were practically drunk with happiness."

"The accused cannot just be eliminated," he told a literacy conference. "This barbarity cannot be done."

The U.S. military has said al-Zarqawi initially survived the dropping of two 500-pound bombs on his hide-out Wednesday, but died a short time later.

Castro said if Cuba used the same logic, it could bomb the United States to kill its No. 1 enemy, Luis Posada Carriles, who is being held in El Paso, Texas on immigration charges.

The communist government accuses the Cuban-born Posada of masterminding numerous violent attacks against the island, including the bombing of a Cuban airliner that killed 73 people in 1976. Posada denies involvement in the bombing of the plane.

Well now, if anyone would know about killing in a barbaric manner, Fidelisimo would be the man.

Our failure to assassinate Castro during the Kennedy administration is one of the enduring failures of American foreign policy.

It is a mistake that still could be corrected if they passed out a pair of cojones inside the beltway.

Did Castro offer to lend a "show trial" judge?

In 1959 Castro obtained a death sentence against a 15 year old American boy whose only crime was that his American grandfather owned property in Cuba where he planned to retire.

Well Fidel, you missed me. May you rot in hell.

...saying he should have been put on trial.

I agree, but he was killed while resisting arrest.

I'm thrilled that Zarkawi is gone, but why does the US criticize Israel for targeted killing of terrorist leaders using the exact same methods?

If I was with you you could count on me to cover your back. And with those hippies it wouldn't take much.

In the least, you should have laughed in their faces and just say they are showing exactly what they are all about in supporting a murderous totalitarian bastard.

And then you could tell them, since you know what they are all about, you would do whatever it takes to stop them from ever succeeding here.

And I would be with you then too.

"My theory is that's not the real reason he burns his underwear. "I have a feeling maybe he's kind of (incontinent) lately and maybe he doesn't want anyone seeing the evidence

I like the original explanation better.

It makes Castro sound more like the paranoid fruit cake that he is.

"The accused cannot just be eliminated," he told a literacy conference. "This barbarity cannot be done."

This statement would have much more credibility if he had responded similarly to the 9/11 attacks. Instead, he defended them as the justifiable acts of an oppressed and misunderstood people, thereby casting his lot in with the wanton murderers of 3,500 innocent office workers.

Not exactly a moral authority on matters of barbarity.

If I had been at their table I would have said something. I note that folks don't risk life and limb in rickety boats to get IN to Cuba.

"The United States acted as 'judge and jury' against the leader of the al-Qaida in Iraq, Castro said late Friday."

To be exact ... it would be judge, jury and executioner. Remember that Fidel!

"The accused cannot just be eliminated," he told a literacy conference."

Well, apparently, yes they can. Remember that Fidel!
