WASHINGTON, June 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi spoke on the House floor this morning in strong opposition to H. Res 861 -- Resolution on the War in Iraq. Republicans brought the resolution to the House floor yesterday in order to politicize the debate on the Iraq war. Below are Pelosi's remarks:
"At the opening of this debate, Mr. Skelton asked the House to observe a moment of silence for the 2,500 troops that we have lost in the war in Iraq.
"The number is a staggering one, but we mourn them one person at a time. I hope their families will live with great pride. I know they will live with great sorrow. My uncle was killed at the Battle of the Bulge and for my father's entire life, it was as if it had happened yesterday. We know that experience has been repeated over and over again across our country.
"In remembering them, let us also salute all our men and women in uniform who are doing their jobs with great courage and dedication, and their families, who are making enormous sacrifices.
"2,500 troops killed, 18,000 wounded more than half of them permanently, the strain our military readiness and eroding our reputation in the world. Stay the course -- I don't think so. It's time to face the facts.
"On every important aspect of the Iraq war, President Bush and his advisors have been wrong: wrong on the reason to go to war; wrong on the reception our troops would receive;

If he wanted a moment of silence, why in the world didn't he just SHUT UP.
The Scarecrow speaks!
Pelosi's father was the one who made the terrible mistake of failing to withdraw. If he had done that in time, he would have spared us of having to put up with her.
It takes "grotesque" to know grotesque!
"There's not much time left. But if we hurry, we can still lose this war!"
It's sad we have such traitors in our midst.
The only thing grotesque is that people voted for her or listen to this mad woman.
If Pelosi is "staggered" by 2,500 combat deaths in three years, what does she think of nearly 3,000 civilians killed in a couple of minutes? And what will she say when a terrorist-smuggled nuke goes off in one of our cities, and a hundred thousand are incinerated in a microsecond? She is an idiot who is unworthy to be called a leader.
I see signs of the democrats losing it by November.
I doubt that she will.
It's time to face the facts - Pelosi has been a mistake,
a grotesque(*) mistake!
* Botox
I think she was looking in a mirror when she made that grotesque comment. Mirror, mirror on the wall...
'It's Time to Face the Facts'
I doubt Pelosi can do that without breaking the mirror.
Bela needs to crawl back in her box before she melts.
We will hear this 10-15 times a day until election day.
"...and speaking of face, if mine were any tighter you could use it for a trampoline."
Some may say I have been a gross mistake for the democratic party; Shooting my mouth off and not letting others do the dirty work. But I say, I represent the democratic party in being antiwar, for the enemy and against our troops. My colleague, Congressman Murtha and I agree on our position.
/Sarcasm Off
Keep talking Nancy....
