Presumed guilty - The clearing of Karl Rove confounds liberals
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | June 18, 2006 | Jack Kelly

Posted on 06/18/2006 9:52:36 AM PDT by new yorker 77

There was anger, anguish and incredulity in the fever swamps last week when Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald made it clear he would not indict White House political guru Karl Rove in his apparently endless investigation of the outing of CIA officer Valerie Plame.

This should remind us the greater threat to our civil liberties comes not from the measures the Bush administration has taken to protect us from terrorists, but from prosecutors who abuse their power for political purposes.

Liberals wanted Mr. Rove indicted because he is a skilled political adversary.

The interest among liberals in an indictment of the person who actually told columnist Robert Novak about Ms. Plame (thought to be former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage) is zero, because there would be no political gain from it.

Their efforts to criminalize policy differences stem from two related beliefs, both inimical to democracy.

The first is the belief that anyone who disagrees with me is evil and must be punished. It's hard to find people on the moonbat left who don't think this way.

The second is the belief that whatever I do to obtain political power is legitimate. Many Democrats who recognize belief No. 1 is a crock eagerly embrace this one.

Fitzgerald, This buttwipe in Texas after Tom Delay and the DA in north Carolina's Duke case all in it for the politics. makes you wonder about the American justice system.

According to Eleonor Cl;ift and other Clinton Sphincter lickers it doesnt matter what Fitz has to say Rove is guilty, but of course McKinney, Kennedy and Jefferson are being hounded.

Whoa! From the article:

In one recent high-profile case, Mr. Fitzgerald's staff mistakenly sent 16 cartons of classified documents to attorneys for the terror suspects he was prosecuting, she said.

In another, Mr. Fitzgerald charged the victim in a financial fraud case instead of its perpetrators.

Convicting Rove prematurely isn't about being overanxious, it's about creating unstoppable momentum for prosecutors. Remember the uproar in the media when Ronnie Earle was about to give up on indicting Tom Delay? Watch now as liberals convict the Haditha marines. Can you imagine the anxiety military brass will endure when releasing the report if the investigation exonerates the Marines? After the media and treasonous Democrats have already convicted the marines releasing a report that exonerates them will be construed as a white wash.

The Marines need to excommunicate Murtha. He has betrayed Semper Fi.

Liberals operate from the premise that all conservatives are evil and guilty of SOMETHING!! Only if because we disagree with liberals. Therefore libs believe in persecuting then prosecuting some important conservative and trying to find a reason for it later. Rove will not be the last conservative they do it to. To libs, all conservatives are guilty until proven innocent. Even then they're guilty in the lib world.

"The Marines need to excommunicate Murtha. He has betrayed Semper Fi."

No plainer truth... etc.

But, I can hear it now - another whole round of "How DARE you question my Patriotism!" and "How can you evil conservatives possibly criticize this WAR HERO???" Sort of like the 2004 elections all over again.

Murtha is another one of those minions of the left Ann (bless her in all her brainy hotness) was talking about - given media credence because they can be portrayed as being morally above any scrutiny.

Speaking of Murtha, it may be of some interest to really inquire into the circumstances of this scumbag's acquisition of his Bronze Star(s).

I know as an indisputable fact that Bronze Stars were awarded in the height of the Viet Nam conflict in many cases for nothing more than showing up for duty -- and getting home with a clean pecker.

I wrote too many of them myself -- citations and all. In so many cases they were nothing more than Good Conduct Medals.

And, that is a fact. Been there; done that!

I wish my fellow Freepers a grand summer week ahead.
