Another great job by jveritas. thoughtomator nails this with his simple question below:

"Now why would Iraq expect an attack in response to 9/11? Unless..."

I believe Con Coughlin or a Brit journalist did that story. Joseph should have it in a moment or two.

Salman Pak, Dave, Iraq Special Weapons Facilities. Or just Google 'Terrorist training sites in Iraq'. A lot of big names there, a lot of dates and connections.

Must disagree with an earlier post (I forget which one). While Saddam and the Bathists may have funded Al Qaeda, they did it on the cheap. Training, money for subsistence in the US (or Canada), airline tickets and some rinky dink cheap hardware...paid to a bunch of stateless thugs. Bin Laden probably did a shake down in Iran and Saudi Arabia too.

9/11 was a terrorist success...for the moment. In that success all the hijackers perished, news of which probably relieved Saddam greatly. But he wisely moved and hid his WMDs and banned assets and foolishly kept precise records.

Don't know how far we've gotten translating the million(s) of pages but eventually this story will be told.
