I'm sure it was just to see if the US used nuclear missiles. /s
Why test unless you're worried about the contents (that they supposedly didn't have) within the structures?
Some will interpet this a Saddam believing that the US used weapons that contains nuclear radiation or biological weapons against the palaces, but knowing that Saddam made was ready to be bombed in 1998 to prevent the UN WMD inspectors from searching the Presidential palaces for WMD, and he got bombed indeed, then this document carry a lot of importance.
PING
or biological weapons :)
By the way the Top Secret and Personal letter carried the highest level of secrecy in Saddam regime.
No doubt he was all prepared with the, "I wuz framed" defense if traces of radioactive/biological material were found in the rubble.
Glad Saddamn is gone....thanks for the translation. ;o)
Given the very public information that X42 had used depleted uranium against the Serbs, is it all that unsusual that SH would wonder if we were using similar material against his country?
IMPORTANT:
We need some Freeper volunteers.
I'm worried that if the mounting evidence in these documents starts to make some people uneasy, the documents might suddenly disappear from the internet.
So we should download and save as many of these documents as possible so that Jveritas and eyespysomething and others can continue this important work.
This is what we need:
A. To download and save as many as possible... which means either one of these:
1. Someone with huge amounts of disk storage space who can save them all in one place.
or --
2. A bunch of Freepers to volunteer their time and disk storage space to download these documents.
And if we use option #2 above, then we also need:
B. Some way to assign which documents each person will download and save, to prevent duplication of effort.
Any volunteers? Any suggestions on how to accomplish B ??
Please ping anyone you think could help.
Unfortunately, I can't do any of it (downloading, organizing, assigning, etc.) due to an already overloaded schedule. So please don't reply to me directly. But hopefully some Freepers will get this accomplished.
The tests for biological seem to make that an unlikely explanation.
That said, we owe you a tremendous debt of gratitude for your work on behalf of the civilized world.
EXACTLY.
I wouldn't worry- there is at LEAST one person who has catalogued, copied, saved and interpreted these docs :)
bump
another home run Sir... with all the stuff YOU are getting, kinda makes you wonder what the govt. take was and what are they holding back and why???
Playing it straight too.....so far.
I don't mean the ones that have already been translated, I mean all the ones yet to be downloaded, saved, and translated. After all, weren't there thousands of BOXES of documents?? That's what I thought I heard.
Do you have any idea whatsoever in what sort of munitions DU is used? Or are you just running on media hysteria with that?
Gotta love someone that proposes something like that, even takes the time to lay it all out - but they are too busy and please don't respond to them directly!
Please read my post #13 and then GET LOST!

Gen. McInerney stated on Hannity & Colmes that he, McInerney, personally heard recordings of Saddam Hussein communicating that the Russkies, Chicoms & French were transporting WMD from Iraq to Syria in 2003.
Call Karl Rove...i am sure he has copies galore...but you make an excellant point in your post!
Ok, everyone!
NOW HEAR THIS! NOW HEAR THIS!!
The libs will believe nothing that doesn't fit in with their comic book version of the real world.
I heard that too! Unbelievable! And where is the MSM on this latest news about WMD??
Oh, I see they are focused on the Marines being charged for what is probably another frame-up job.
Figures. I really loathe the MSM.
Absolutely! Another great find! Thanks!
I heard that too Kelly. The General may be very well correct. However from the thousands of pages of Iraqi document I read so far, I am more leaning that the WMD or Precursors to WMD we buried somewhere in the Anbar Province in the Western Desert.
Ping
Whatever happened to Dr. Mona Al Jaboori ? Does anyone know?
Well, ya know as far as I am concerned, the day we captured Saddam Hussein was the day we found the WMD in Iraq.
But according to McInerney, the Russkies, French & Chicoms moved the WMD from Iraq to Syria in 2001.
With "allies" like France who needs enemies.
My father has been rolling over in his grave ever since the French refused to side with us in the war against Saddam Hussein. My father was one of the Dough Boys who went to France with Black Jack Pershing in WWI. Frog Legs have verrrrrrry short memories. If not for America & Americans who pulled the French's bacon out of the fire not once but twice; they would all be speaking German today.
Semper Fi,
Kelly
Didn't think so.
DU is used in kinetic energy rounds. Main tank guns, and the A-10 nose gun, plus some other aircraft gatling guns with an anti-armor loadout. That's about it.
Neither used against Saddam in the time frame being discussed.
BUMP
And Dr. Frank von Hippel of Princeton University has concluded that even if a ton of depleted uranium dust were spread all over Kosovo, the resulting radiation level would be within one one-hundredth of 1 percent of the normal level. In fact, the health risk from radiation emitted from depleted uranium is so low that it is used in radiation shielding for hospitals.Source
given the dates listed on the docs (Dec 98 & Jan 99), this coincides with X42's wag the dog III to take the focus off the impeachment vote. Nonetheless, another great find you've presented.
I have no idea. I hope that the Iraq Survey Group had interviewed this woman.
I wish a Senator would read these translations on the Senate Floor
Yes...just as a lot of the Senators have said that this debate today was good to have...
They should also take whatever time necessary to read some of the documents that have been translated.
Sarcasm aside, I wonder if they truly were this ignorant. When we invaded, the Iraqis thought that our Javelin Medium Antitank Missiles were tactical nukes due to the degree of destruction that they caused to T-72's. They also thought that our body armor was air conditioned, that our water made us super human, and that our armored vehicles had showers inside.
"A. To download and save as many as possible..."
Is this something that we need to do? Do you have any idea how much space would be needed to archive this stuff?
I have something around 100Gig of space on my secondary drive and a 3 meg/sec T-1 at work. If the stuff will fit in that amount of space, I can leave my laptop at the office and see if I can suck the entire FMSO site in overnight one night.
I believe that DU is only used for armor-penetrating rounds such as on the A-10's GAU-8/A, not for any kind of explosive bombs that I've ever heard of (it's purpose is to enable dynamic armor-piercing rounds to penetrate metal better). As such, DU is totally irrelevant to this discussion as far as I can tell (I'm no expert but my dad used to work with the A-10 as an Aeronautical Engineer for Republic Fairchild - I'll try to get more info from him).
The Navy and Army also have some DU munitions, but certainly not in the kinds of weapons that would have been used from the air against Saddam's presidential sites in the attacks in question.

a closer look (past the radiation aspect) will show that the dust itself is extremely toxic without radiation.....not chemical/biologic class toxicity, but quite toxic in ways similar to other heavy metals.
you DO NOT want to be a driver or shotgun on a lowboy in a convoy of lowboys lugging dust-laden Iraqi tanks destroyed with DU-tipped projectiles......trust me! (or look into it further for yourself)
Now the left is saying,
a. the 500 found missile tipped WMDs aren't the "right" ones
b. 500 isn't very many
c. They aren't harmful "now" (too old)
d. George Bush lied
These people have serious mental problems... No telling what this news will do to them ;)
Did you see that Dem lady they had on before, saying "These aren't the WMD we went to war over"? That has got to be the worst attempt to detract from a news item I have ever heard. "Yes, we found material capable of killing hundreds of thousands of people, but it wasn't the material capable of killing hundreds of thousands of people we were told about in the beginning." Yeah, that's a REAL powerful argument. I thought that Ann handled her very well during that segment...though her comments when Colmes brought up Murtha were a bit over the top and detracted from her point.
