Cannon-Jacob race 'undecided'(Sensenbrenner officially endorses Cannon)

In a week where Cannon has received endorsements from President Bush and first lady Laura Bush, he released a new one Wednesday from one of the toughest critics of the Senate bill and its path-to-citizenship proposal, House Judiciary Committee chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis. In a recorded message, Sensenbrenner said Cannon is "a major force in Congress." "And long before it was fashionable, Chris Cannon was working with me to stop illegal immigration. Just about everybody in Congress is talking about immigration, but Chris Cannon is one of the few doing the heavy lifting to actually solve the problem."

Sensenbrenner is praising Chris Cannon, while IMO, taking jabs at those who "showboat" on immigration(i.e tancredo).

Also before you Jacob supporters get all excited about the headline, the Jacob campaign isn't going to say they are behind and the papers will drag this out till the last vote is counted. Aftereall this is the "political dokdrum" season and a race is good for the papers.

My guess, Cannon wins it with 60% of the vote.

If nothing else, Jacob has put the scare on Cannon, an incumbent. Even if Cannon wins, he will likely be more conservative on immigration issues.

Let us hope so. How anyone in their right mind can suppose that citizenship is what an illegal immigrant is all about, is a logic that leaves me stunned. And the logic that somehow the two opposites are connected in some way leaves me even more stunned.

And the proposal that it is somehow, someway a right of passage for an illegal alien to be offered citizenship for his or her efforts in coming to this country I L L E G A L L Y leaves me totally stunned.

That many voices of the people can think in such ways and use such logic, leaves me stunned beyond belief. Thank heaven for the House of Representatives, and the death of the senate bill and the slim hope of being unstunned.

A hope dependent on the voice of the people sounding so loud and so clear that this insanity will be recognized by those elected representatives and they will "do the right thing" and we the people will trust but verify.

"Chris Cannon was working with me to stop illegal immigration".

Dane, why are you supporting Cannon so hard, if he has been working to stop illegal immigration?

With 38% undecided this race will break against the incumbent and the challenger will win.

There was a poll last month that said only 36% in the district supported Cannon. The open border clown may yet win but I suspect it's going to be close either way.

So does this mean the Tancredo Fan Club is going to target Sensenbrenner for being a RINO traitor?

Or bay buhanan's filed long fingernails, now that her eunuch(tom tancredo) has been marginalized by good conservative James Sensesnbrenner.

Rep. Tom Tancredo's ratings from various conservative organizations:
100% "Best and Brightest" Rating from American Conservative Union (one of only 38 other Congressmen)
100% Rating from National Right to Life Committee
100% Rating from Conservative Index (Spring '05 - 75% lifetime, tied for second highest rating)
100% Rating from Concerned Women for America
100% Rating from Christian Coalition
100% Rating from Campaign for Working Families
100% Rating from FreedomWorks
98% Rating from National Tax Limitation Committee (average since 1999)
95% "Taxpayer Hero" Rating from Citizens Against Government Waste
95% Rating from Americans for Tax Reform
95% Rating from Christian Action Network
93% Rating from Eagle Forum (tied for second highest rating)

Rep. Tom Tancredo's ratings from various leftist organizations:
0% Rating from National Education Association
0% Rating from National Organization for Women
0% Rating from Brady Campaign
0% Rating from People for the American Way
0% Rating from Planned Parenthood
0% Rating from Pro-Choice America

Sensenbrenner, by comparison, scored consistantly lower than conservative Tom Tancredo on ratings from conservative organization. So did Cannon. You keep calling them 'conservative' yet you keep trashing Tancredo and calling him names. You are a hypocrit of the worst sort.

What's Tancredo's Pompous Preening Poseur rating? Because that's got to be in the high 90's.

Hi Dane. I'm going to go through my daily ritual of asking you your take on the Pence plan. Day 14 - What is Dane's opinion of the Mike Pence compromise?

What's the deal with Sensenbrenner? Cannon is one of the worst for following our immigration laws and is one of the top globalists and cheap labor shills in Congress and that's why Bush is pushing so hard for him to win. Why would Sensenbrenner want to put in a guy who will vote against his immigration bill. Something stinks here with Sensenbrenner endorsing one of the illegal aliens most favorite guys in the House -- Cannon.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Feb 9, 2005

NCLR TO HONOR DEMOCRAT SENATOR CHRISTOPHER DODD, CONGRESSMAN CHRIS CANNON, AND THE LLANO GRANDE CENTER AT 2005 CAPITAL AWARDS GALA

Washington, DC – The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., will hold its 2005 Capital Awards Dinner at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC on Tuesday, March 8. At this year’s annual gala, NCLR will honor Senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT) and Congressman Chris Cannon (R-UT) for their leadership on legislation that has had a significant impact on the Hispanic community, and the Llano Grande Center for Research and Development – a community-based organization located in Elsa, Texas – for providing education and youth leadership programs along the Texas-Mexico border.

“Senator Dodd is one of the most loyal and committed supporters of the Latino community,” said Janet Murguia, NCLR President and CEO. “He has worked tirelessly to protect the civil rights of all Americans and has been a champion for early child education, leading the debate to expand the Head Start program and provide universal access to preschool.”

Murguia continued, “NCLR is also pleased to honor Representative Cannon, who, despite pressure from extremist anti-immigrant forces, has fought resolutely for comprehensive immigration reform. We commend Congressman Cannon especially for his work as chief House sponsor of the ‘Dream Act.’ If passed, the ‘Dream Act’ would open the doors to college for the children of undocumented immigrants – many of whom have lived in the U.S. their entire lives, excelled, and even become honor roll students in their U.S. high schools.”

NCLR will also present the Public Service Award to the Llano Grande Center for Research and Development for its success in building strong leaders in south Texas. “NCLR is proud to highlight the amazing work of the Llano Grande Center, which has placed more than 50 students in Ivy League universities since 1993,” said Murguia. “Its outstanding programs are models for other immigrant communities throughout the country.” Sonia Manzano, acclaimed for her work as “Maria” on Sesame Street, will serve as Master of Ceremonies at the gala event, and entertainment will include a performance by Latin Jazz All-Stars. Citigroup is the Chair sponsor for the event, and the Fannie Mae Foundation and Frito- Lay, Inc./PepsiCo Inc. are the Vice Chairs.

For tickets and table information, please contact Fernanda Tilleria at (800) 311-NCLR. Members of the media interested in attending should contact Alexandra Jost at (202) 785-1670.

Knowing that Cannon is allied with La Raza, an extremist Hispanic organization which supports unrestricted illegal immigration, would you vote for him?
