It was apparently visible from So Cal too. I was inside working so I couldn't see it either.

Well, I've had a good night - got to see this launch (if only on video) and also the Palestinians get a well-deserved beatdown courtesy of the IDF.

Times change. In my 6 years at VAFB I was all over that pad. Glad to see they have been able to convert it after the Blue Shuttle program was stopped by Challenger. Funny, if I had spoken the 3 letter customer acronym while I was outside of the scif, it would have been cause to remove my clearance in the bad old days. Things are different now I guess.

Aha!
I was driving with my dad at 8:33, almost dusk, and I saw that launch. I pointed it out to my dad and he said the same thing - he said it looked like it was coming from Vandenberg. We both thought it was a missile.
To: Rockitz
I have seen many launches and this one was odd because the tragectory was Very low. It looked like it was cruising due south.
