NEW YORK An Atlanta Mercedes-Benz dealership has apologized for an Atlanta Journal-Constitution cartoon, according to the conservative NewsBusters.org blog.
Mike Luckovich's cartoon showed a hooded figure holding an American flag while reading a book on torture etiquette to an al-Qaida member.
"Lest anyone think THEY were sponsoring the cartoon, the dealership paid for a full-page ad in the paper to beg for forgiveness," wrote NewsBusters.org.
NewsBusters.org quoted the dealership's ad as saying: "We are sorry! While we strongly affirm the right of free speech, the June 22 Mike Luckovich cartoon depicting the U.S. as torturers on par with al-Qaida was very offensive to us. ..."
The ad also said, among other things, that the dealership "has been a long-time advertiser in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. We have signed an agreement, which we intend to honor, to advertise with them into the future. However, this event has changed the way we view the relationship. For now, we have chosen to spend our ad dollars to let you know that we do not agree with the editorial cartoonist of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. ..."
Luckovich's liberal commentary work is distributed by Creators Syndicate. NewsBusters.org is part of the Media Research Center, which was founded by a group of conservatives headed by Creators columnist L. Brent Bozell III.

I'm kinda puzzled - I take it that the auto dealer's ad appeared on the editorial pages? What would link the two together?

I am interpreting this only that the dealership was appalled by the paper's decision to run the cartoon.
As you may have heard, there are many who are threatening a boycott of all NYSlimes advertisers. Perhaps this dealership felt to ward off such a similar boycott.

The significance here is that the dealership sends the AJC checks for ad space. When adverstisers speak, newspapers listen.

I called RPM yesterday. Their phone number is 619-723-7438.
The young lady who took my message was just lovely. My message was, "Thank you for standing up to these bullies. Thank you for doing the decent thing."
It is long past the time when we, as conservatives, made our voices heard by the tyrants and traitors at the MSM propaganda outlets. If we had been more vocal in our support, maybe the NYT wouldn't have had the gall to publish it's treason on the front page.
Don't bother with e-mail, it's just too easy to delete. Call these people up and let them know the you, an American and a taxpaying consumer, just won't stand by anymore.
I've already called Hilton Hotels, CAIR, the Lexington MA school district, and my Congresscritter. I also called that college in KY awhile back, the one where the FemLesbo Prof led her students in destroying a Right to Life booth. That Prof is no longer employed by the college. It wasn't just me. The lady I spoke to there said that the calls were pouring in from all over.
If you really want to make a difference, SPEAK UP!!

I called RPM yesterday. Their phone number is 619-723-7438.It probabily would have done you better to call RBM. Since they are the ones who did it.

The dinosaurs continue to crap in their feed troughs...Good metaphor. LOL.
The greatest thing by far is to be a master of metaphor. It is the one thing that cannot be learned from others; it is also a sign of genius, since a good metaphor implies an eye for resemblance.
