McDane is nothing more than a Benedict Arnold. If you legitimize him, he'll corrode any semblance of reason.

Personally, I definitely think it's preferable to have a conservative in office, even with a few flaws...just as long as your whole party isn't that way. And generally speaking, it's not the house we have a problem with, it's the LONG term Senate we have a problem with. Our house reps know that if they don't listen to us, they'll get the boot, while the Senate depends on our short-term memories and our fear of Dims.

I'd much rather have a party that's solidly conservative but I'd have to weigh in the need of neutralizing or equalizing the power Dims receive, because no one wants them in power. I think 50 solid conservatives (in the Senate) would make the Dims shiver in fear.

I know there's probably more of a benefit with having what is had now, but then again there's a lot of tension when we get to key issues and the repub leaders in the senate are silly.

Just remember that nearly 90-95% of our representative up for relection didn't betray us on this issue, as it doesn't take a geninus to understand why.

I sometimes wish the Senators had a much shorter term or the 17th amendment was repealed,...not a bad wish, you think?

On a side note:

McDane shows you what not to do on a forum. I have difference politically with some people here, but I'm much better off working with people to create change; this based off the similiar values we hold, rather than contending with what probably won't change. I don't expect McDane's head to harden, do you?

His marginalized effort within this forum just makes him look like a moron. It doesn't help that most of the time he lacks a construct in terms of his arguement(s), and that he could be easily exploited by the continual barrage of mind-creations he makes.

Whew, dang you guys(tancredo/bay buchananites) are a bitter lot.

JMO, bitternses will get you nowhere, look at the epitomies of bitterness, hillary, chuckie schemer, nancy pelosi, john murtha, et al.

Pence has spoken in favor of compromise. There can be no compromise on this issue.

Bitter lot? What did I do or say that indicated I am bitter about the outcome on Tuesday?

Don't lump everyone into one pot of stew, Dane, but when you live in the West, where we deal with illegal immigration day in and day out, maybe you'll have something intelligent to say on the subject. Until then, I, for one, am still waiting to hear why you are so pro-illegal immigration. Howw many do you employ?

Dane paints everyone with his broad brush. He can't point to one time before Tancredo/Buchanan got involved with my local election, that I ever mentioned their names.

I am not a tancredo/buchananite, but Dane must gain something by painting me that way. I posted on his blasted pro-illegal immigration threads simply because he was attacking a candidate that I happened to support. Now it is in his head that I am some kind of anti-GOP, anti-Bush advocate. Please.........

The spin from the Open Borders Lobby just gets funnier and funnier.

Cannon holds on to his seat, so they declare victory.

Of course, counter to his entire record vis a vis immigration, Chris had to spout rhetoric that sounded like Tom Tancredo on steroids.

And all the while, the administration feels so much pressure on this issue they've had to start sending troops to the border, or at least make it look like they are.

The open borders lobby is run by cynical and nasty political hacks. Their focus is on defending the narrow political interests of individual politicians. Their refusal is admit they are losing on broad political fronts is not surprising.

But, be assured, they are losing.

" Whew, dang you guys(tancredo/bay buchananites) are a bitter lot."

Again, McDane, why do you assert that I'm for either Tom or otherwise? Then again, why assert I'm bitter? As I only feel sorry for the level of stupidity you harbor. You can't even develop a sufficient arguement against me, that you depend on these lame assertions as a kick back to actually thinking.

Could you even make an assertion that's not full of mind-creations?

Do you even understand what a 'mind-creation' is? Let me explain it to your infantile mind. That which is created in your mind, which is not a physical reality with provable reasoned assets, is a mind-creation; while a fact of nature is provable by physical assets/evidence. Your loser assertions about my supposed support of Tom or my bitterness is just in your mind. They are your own personal delusions to manipulate the situation or perhaps you're just lost up stairs. McDane you are fool and everyone sees it...why not just admit it or does your mind not compute what your missing?

McDane is riddled with fallacies, and he ventures into the fantasy world everyones and a while.

Here's the homicide rate for cities over 400,000 as per 2004. Check out how El Paso and San Antonio compare to all-American places like Baltimore, Detroit and Philly.

At least make it look that way is right -- 485 by the deadline, no where near the touted 6000.... just like the approval in congress for a large numberof border patrol agents and only funding enough to hire a small number. Smoke and mirrors.

I voted for this President, so I can hardly be considered anti-anything.

Wait until the daily murders in Nuevo Laredo spreads across the border into Laredo. The Sheriff there openly admits he doesn't have the manpower to stop it (from spreading) and he's not getting the help he has been promised.

The same things going on in Nuevo Laredo is/has spread to former vacation resorts like Rosarita Beach, especially since the former drug lord of the area is now mayor of Tijuana....

Rosarita is a place we used to go to on holiday weekends like this one and would not even venture across the border these days.

Then maybe it will be like Philadelphia. But as of 2004, the stats indicate the border cities are pretty good crime-wise.

If you scroll through the Wiki link you'll find top-100 ranks that aren't restricted to the 400,000 limit. I couldn't find Laredo in the high crime lists for either total crime or violent crime.

Except for Detroit which could technically be called a border city.
