Pro-Life Group Purchases Building Housing Abortion Clinic forcing Abortion Business Closure

WICHITA, June 29, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The pro-life group Operation Rescue has announced that it has purchased the building that housed Central Women's Services, an abortion mill located at 3013 E. Central in Wichita, Kansas. Central Women's Services had not been able to pay the rent, and the property was put up for sale. When Operation Rescue purchased the property, under the stipulation that the current tenant not be allowed to remain, it forced the mill to close.

The facility is to be renovated and serve as the pro-life group's corporate headquarters, and will feature a memorial to the pre-born victims of abortion.

The abortion business operated at the location for 23 years and it is estimated that about 50,000 children were killed on the site.

Conditions in the abortion 'clinic' were deplorable said  Operation Rescue staff member Cheryl Sullenger who walked through the building with a realtor.

"There was mold, and general filth," said Sullenger. "The carpets outside the abortion rooms were stained with blood, even though it was evident that some effort had been made to clean them. The ceiling nearby was broken. All of the walls were dirty and some were covered with cheap contact paper instead of being properly maintained."

Operation Rescue President Troy Newman also commented on the abortion facility. "Under the sink was one of the biggest garbage disposals I have ever seen," said Newman. "The entire area had the stench of death. It was the sink where the suction machine bottles were washed. In fact, dried blood could be seen that had seeped out from the metal band that surrounded the sink top. There was a bucket marked 'biohazard' next to the sink. We were all sickened by the thought of all those thousands of innocent children whose blood had been washed down that sink. It was an experience I will never forget."

The abortion mill captured the attention of local pro-lifers during the 1991 Summer of Mercy when a Pastor's Rescue, led by Operation Rescue tactical director Jeff White, resulted in the arrests of 80 members of the clergy in what was likely the largest incident of civil disobedience by pastors in the history of the pro-life movement.

Operation Rescue had previously purchased the lot behind the abortion business and erected a huge pro-life billboard there, which was easily viewable by women coming to the facility for abortions.

But where will the wacko leftists go to worship with the death of unborn babies as their sacrifice to their "god"? And to think the Carthagians got a bad rap about baby-killing, but it's okay now a days.

It ought to tell you something when even the Romans knew it was bad, especially considering how bloodthirsty they could be.

If babies were butchered in 100% sterile conditions and the waiting rooms where women sat prior to having their child murdered were the height of luxury, would your opinion of abortion change?

Not a bit. I was just saying, the description seems a little "overkill." Do you think people who are teetering on the edge of the morality of abortion might be swayed depending on the conditions of an abortion clinic? I tend to think no.

Just for a frame of reference, approximately 58,000 US servicemen died in Vietnam, whereas 50,000 babies died in one small office building in Wichita.

Everyone should meditate on that fact.

It's a shocking figure by istelf, but it's even more shocking when you put it in perspective.

It's also worth remembering that, in almost every major city of every state, there is another abortion mill with similarly grim 'casualty' figures.

One would think, with the tens of millions of dollars that flowed through this slaughterhouse, that the workers and owners would have spent a small amount of that revenue stream to try to make the environs modestly attractive and pleasant.

Perhaps the moral horrors that worked and operated this outpost of Hell realized at some level that there could be no dressing it up.

I disagree. The deplorably unsanitary conditions in abortion mills are definitely worth discussing.

The many pro-choicers who believe that abortion is okay if it is "safe, legal, and rare" might change their minds if they understood that abortion, as it is currently practiced in this country, is neither safe nor rare.

This Clinic is another one. Tiller's abortuary is located on Kellogg. about a mile south and amile and a half east of this one, used to drive by this building a lot, but I rarely saw anyone protesting in front of it, unlike Tiller's, where there is almost always someone.

A civilized society would call this mass murder.

Wasn't it Stalin who said that a single death was a tragedy but a thousand deaths was a mere statistic?

Central Women's Services had not been able to pay the rent

50,000 * $500 (current early price) = $25 million / 23yrs = $1.1 million per year

of course that is a rough guesstimate and doesn't take into account price variations over the last few decades..

This doesn't add up... as for conditions I have no trouble believing the report.. What I would like to see is the "hands off" approach to clinics by the IRS to end... after 3 decades of being untouchable you know they're fudging the numbers.

Or better yet, pro-lifers can use their conditions to shutdown those dens of Death.
