Judge throws out confession in Jessica Lunsford case

The confession of a man charged with kidnapping, raping and killing 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford isn't admissible in court, but the discovery of her body can be used as evidence, a judge ruled today.

John Evander Couey, a 47-year-old convicted sex offender, gave the confession to detectives, but also told them that he wanted to consult a lawyer. He wasn't given the opportunity to do so.

Jessica Marie Lunsford was found kneeling and clutching a stuffed animal, hands tied with speaker wire and fingers poking through the garbage bags in which she was buried alive in March 2005. Two days earlier, Couey told detectives he kidnapped, raped and killed the 9-year-old girl.

US court is BS! He was not even coerced for a confession. This is an 'after the fact' find by his lawyer... a backdoor out. I hope that he is tortured on his way out the back door just before his death. People like this should not live to torture more babies. These young children are still BABIES, if only to their family.

This was also not his first charge concerning children. He should not have been on the streets at all. I expect the cable talk shows will be all over this trial in the weeks ahead.

Well everyone has pretty much heard the confession already because it's been on every news channel. He will be convicted by anybody who heard the disgusting details of the confession no matter what.

the anti-American left-wing fascist Democrats who complain about dogs barking at terrorist as torture

Is this a riddle? My *guess* is they outnumber reasonable people...whether outnumber includes dead voters and illegal immigrants or not is another issue.

You don't have biological children? Children you would kill for? ... I didn't think so. Why are you on this topic?

For anyone interesting, you can hear audio of part of the interview in question at http://www.sptimes.com/2006/webspecials06/couey/

It's about midway down the page and is titled Audio. Other info there as well and more at courttv.com.

Hubby is on his way home with supper so I don't have time to dig around to find how to make this a clickable link, but wanted to get the link out there to ya'll.

This judge must be a practicing child pornograper. Florida needs to impeach this fella real quick, before he sets another monster free to murder a child...

Bumping this thread because jury selection started today for this freak's trial. Saw Mark on the news tonight and I got sad all over again.

I followed all of this case avidly from the first day Jessie went missing, but I don't think I'll be able to stomach this trial - however, I do want someone else to post about it here at FR, so I can choose whether or not to read the details (again). Sorry for being so selfish!

Thank you!
