Turkey is given EU warning

Turkey was yesterday given a blunt warning that its accession talks with the European Union could be halted.
Matti Vanhanen, the Finnish prime minister who takes over the rotating presidency of the EU today, said it was clear Turkey was going to be "a very difficult issue" in the next six months if it did not drop its blockade on Cypriot shipping.
He endorsed warnings from the European Commission that there would be a "train crash" in Turkey's entry talks if it does not open its ports and airports to Greek Cypriot ships and airplanes.
Mr Vanhanen said the 25 EU member states had to agree unanimously to begin and end each "chapter" of the multi-part accession process with Turkey.
"Turkey must fulfil the commitment it has given," he said. "There is always the possibility to stop negotiations. I believe Turkey knows that." The British government, which is Turkey's strongest supporter in the EU, is growing "nervous" about a looming showdown.
British officials said that, if by September, there was no sign of progress, it would be hard to deny that talks were in a crisis, less than a year after they formally began.
Leading politicians in France, Austria and Germany openly oppose the idea of Turkey ever joining the EU.

Turkey must be scared of the world ruling EU.
Just the massive economic clout of the EU alone is now, and will become a more dominant force in the world, whether we like it or not.
If Turkey doesn't want to join the EU they can just take a privileged trade partnership anytime they want and be done with it.

The fact is the EU is becoming THE dominant economic force in the world, that just by it's size is beginning to dictate terms to the rest of the world.
One example is the EU ban on leaded materials in electronic products.
Because the EU is such huge market, the entire manufacturing sector is conforming to this requirement, with or without notifying it's other customers who may not want lead-free electronics.
Not joking.
The Euro was based on the idea that the EU was a sovereign single government. The elections throughout Europe dismissed the EU constitution and effectively stripped the facade off this decades-old ponzi scheme.
The idea that the EU is a superstate is merely the idea of false prophets and Euro-hucksters.
LOL. Look at rates of growth and where they are coming from. EU's only growth has been from territiorial expansion. It's richest and most powerful states have 10% - 15% unemployment and essentially a no-growth economy. Europe's native populations are imploding. It's only going to get worse as European boomers age with no children to support them in retirement. Their only choice is to share power and wealth with the Muslim immigrants--not exactly a recipe for economic growth. Sharia was not designed for a streamlined, modern economy.
Meanwhile, China, India, the US, and even Mexico are easily outstripping the EU in economic growth. Differential rates of growth over the next 20-50 years will render the EU as irrelevant economically as they are today militarily.
In a Eurocrat's fantasies, maybe.
For a year, I lived among the generals, diplomats, and civilian population (primarily Muslim families) in Turkey. Unfortunately, I agree with you.

When you strip away the smoke and mirrors, Turkey is just one more stagnant moslem backwater, full of snakes and vermin and disease. They are about one assassination away from having the Islamo-scumbags in charge. Good for the EU if they figure this out before contaminating themselves. If they don't, they will pay a fearsome price.
