(Tokyo = Yonhap News) Shin Ji-hong correspondent = Ten Iranian missile engineers recently visited N. Korea, and the purpose of their visit is apparently to join the launch preparation for the long-range Taepodong-2 missile, according to Sankei Shimbun (of N. Korea) quoting U.S. government figures and military sources on N. Korea.

According to the sources, the (Iranian) delegation to N. Korea are made up of senior engineers for missile development at Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and they went into N. Korea via Beijing.

Their immediate mission could be to verify the capability of missile equipments which N. Korea imported from China. Apparently, Iran wanted to collect information (on the equipments) in order to determine whether to purchase them from China.

In particular, the sources said there are possibilities that N. Korea and Iran had discussions on the joint project for missile's liquid fuels.

It is backed up by the analysis of Western military experts that the two countries, with China's help, have been jointly developing a turbo pump which injects fuel into Taepodong-2.

In a related report, Japanese Foreign Minister Aso Daro and U.S. Secretary of State, Condoleeza Rice, both on G-8 Foreign Ministers' Conference in Moscow, had a meeting on (June) 30th, and agreed to an understanding that N. Korea missile launch issue should be resolved through dialogues, according to Japanese media.

Foreign Minister Aso emphasized, "It is important to urge restraints on N. Korea, and the issue should be resolved through dialogues, such as 6-party talks," and Secretary Rice also said, "It is important to urge cooperation among countries involved."

So western Europe is in for a big surprise sooner than we thought. Iran already has BM-25s that can reach Rome, but the new hardware from China will reach any part of Europe.

This adds weight to the speculation from a few days ago that the NK missile launch MUST fly at some point, as there is a deal between NK and Iran that includes the launch as a demonstration that would fall thru if it did not.

I cant help but wonder what good a missile is that takes days to prepare. This missile has to be fueled and set up. A job that takes several days.

American intelligence sources would know days before a launch that preparations were being made. The only hope of using this as an offensive weapon would be the surprise of calling it a test and using a warhead. The country using it would only have the one shot. Of course we realise this is just a prototype for better things to come.

It would appar to me that Iran, N.Korea, Venezuela , and perhaps a few other half assed countries are working together to get themselves destroyed.

Iran is not likely to launch a ballistic at Europe. It would be the end of the current regime in Iran. Simple logic under the NATO defence treaty. This would be all that the U.S. would need to defang the current regime in Iran.

If these are senior Iranian Missile Engineers responsible for their program, why not have a work "accident" when they are on their way back to Iran. Possibly engine malfunction while in the air...or just SHOOT THE BA$TARDS DOWN. Huge setback for their program!!

If Iranians rode an old Antonov to get to N. Korea, all we need is just a little tweak to bring it down.:)

The plane is known to be a flying death trap.

Anyway, it is not bad to hear that they were "martyred" in the service of their country.
