Interesting to note that Free Republic's web traffic goes up on every year on Anna Kounikova's birthday.

Maybe downloading to Ipod, etc., so not actually listening when monitoring is done? Just a thought...

What about listening via local station? I use WGST or WABC and have never gone to Rush's site to listen. This is hyping a terribly flawed measure.

I don't trust these ratings either..but if there was fall-off from Rush or Fox I attribute it thusly:

Fox - Has tried real hard to be loved by MSM by hiring many from CNN and other liborgs. It is new homogenized (like milk, not people). Fox bashes Bush with as much relish as the rest of them now, and with hyper-nuts like Shep ahd Greta running around, Fox has lost its uniqueness.

Rush - Used to talk alot about Liberals always being upset, mad, concerned etc. Well excuse me, but Rush has really turned that way. He is visibly frustrated alot. Mad at the way the MSM gets by with bias, or what WH is not doing (fighting back) or doing (making deals with Vincente Fox and looking the other way on illegal immigration). Secondly, Rush used to have a lot more humor on his show. I particulary enjoyed Paul Shanklin's mock songs, but since Rush developed his hearing problem, they have gone way off the music and joke stuff. It may also have something to do with the "lovely Marta" leaving his life when the "Dr. Shopping" allegations came down. I can imagine Rush was very hard to live with during that, probably blamed others, enraged he could not fight back, etc. Marta probably wondered why with all they had (e.g. a personal chef for Rush to keep him trim) why oh why would Rush allow himself to get in such a fix. He is a genius and GOP owes him more than they know, more than they think they owe Newt for leading the GOP to wrest control of Congress. Rush wants acceptance and love too. There is such a thing as trying too hard. I'd like to see Rush become funny again. I'd ever suffer through cigar chat or chain saws played to Born Free to get him on beam.

And the traffic on DailyKOS and DU go up on Josef Stalin's birthday.

Summertime, and the livin' is easy...

Hey, it's re-run season. Many of us are here every day, some all day, but most citizens fade in and out with the seasons and political cycle regading political matters.

"I don't understand. The graph shows we have 600,000 hits? You claim that represents only TWO PERCENT of the actual traffic? That would mean we get 30 MILLION hits per day."

Real simple to explain, if you have the alexa toolbar installed and you do a search for "some term", the websites that show up in that list are counted as a hit. No-one is really sure how many are actually counted, the first 10 or the first 100 but count them they do.

Alexa is also known to register webspider hits and refreshes on the same page Which is why alexa is so easily manipulated. I would suggest a search for alexa hack, alexa manipulation or just alexa for a host of examples.

I am willing to bet that it is the summer season also.

It is well known that Ebay average sales drop dramatically after Memorial Day and pick up again after Labor Day.

If traffic on the others has slowed, it's likely because there are SO many other choices in conservative websites, blogs, etc. nowadays. Not quite the same things as folks not being interested anymore.

I guess Thursday, June 29th was a slow news day for Mr. Rothstein's alleged "article" to actually come to fruition.

If this pseudo writer was really interested downward trends, he should look at the decrease in stock value of the 6 major dinosaur fishwraps in the past 2 years:

When the action happens, FR is the place, as we get closer to the elections I suspect the hits will pick up, if the rats were in power the rating would be a lot higher.

What will happen to them when conservatives begin to take over more power than we already have.

Republicans have power. Conservatives have little.

Self delusion may make the left feel better but at least for us it does not help them win elections.

I'll betcha Rush radio rating, FNC TV ratings and Ann's sold books are way higher then the libs. While your note is true in terms of total numbers, the trends are these folks are trending down. Rush's ratings are down and Ailes just sent a shot across the bow at FNC about the sorry state of affairs concerning ratings. From a story in 1998, Rush had "A recent report in Radio & Records, another trade mag, showed Limbaugh with 17 million weekly listeners--and that was based on an incomplete tally of his radio outlets, Kit Carson told the newspaper. When all stations--and listeners--are accounted for, Limbaugh is drawing an audience closer to "18 to 18.5 million," Carson said. "

Now that seems to be down from the 20 million often talked about. And that 18 to 18.5 was from Rush's spokesperson.

And according to Talkers Magazine, the fall 2005 number is now 13.75.
