:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Bin Laden Says Will Take Fight to America
(Full Story)

Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden said his group reserved the right to fight the United States on its land and warned Washington and the world community against sending forces to Somalia, according to an Internet audio tape.

"We will fight its (U.S.) soldiers on the land of Somalia ... and we reserve the right to punish it on its land and anywhere possible," said the speaker, who sounded like the Saudi-born militant.

"We warn all of the countries in the world not to respond to America by sending international troops to Somalia," he said of the African nation where Islamists' power is rising.

I absolutely cannot believe they are that stupid. I've been hearing that all afternoon (while ironing....fun, fun) I just kept shaking my head, along with the can of spray starch.

"Suspect Pleads Guilty to Eco-Terror Plot"
Jul 20th - 12:26am

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A second suspect has pleaded guilty to plotting to blow up a U.S. Forest Service genetics lab and other targets, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.

Zachary Jenson, 20, of Monroe, Wash., pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy late Tuesday in what the FBI alleges was an eco-terrorist plot to be carried out in the name of the Earth Liberation Front. The shadowy, loose-knit group of environmental activists has claimed credit for arsons in recent years throughout the West, often at construction sites.

In May, Lauren Weiner, 20, of Pound Ridge, N.Y., also pleaded guilty to conspiracy. The convictions carry potential sentences of five to 20 years in federal prison.

Both Weiner and Jenson agreed to cooperate with investigators as part of their plea bargains. That includes testifying against Eric McDavid, 28, of Foresthill, the alleged leader of the plot.

All were arrested Jan. 13 as they allegedly bought bomb-making materials at a Kmart in Auburn, east of Sacramento.

Three days before their arrests, the three allegedly scouted the Nimbus Dam and nearby fish hatchery on the American River near Sacramento, and the Forest Service's Institute of Forest Genetics near Placerville."

Using vivid imagination, and hoping Israel achieved/achieves it's target when it comes to Hezbollah leadership and/or those perpetuating it.

Unfortunately, it seems we missed the rat.

"Ontario terror suspect gets bail"
Canadian Press via Sun Media ^ | 2006-07-20 | (wire service)

Posted on 07/20/2006 12:23:03 PM PDT by Clive

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BRAMPTON, Ont. (CP) - A second terror suspect has been granted bail after being charged with planning attacks in Ontario.

Twenty-one-year-old Ahmad Ghany of Mississauga, Ont., became the first of 12 adult suspects to be released from custody after a justice of the peace granted him bail Thursday for $140,000 and put him under house arrest.

Ghany is charged with knowingly participating in a terrorist group and receiving training for activity in a terrorist group.

His parents will post $100,000 while the remaining $40,000 is being posted by two other sureties.

Ghany's bail conditions require him to stay at his parents' home unless he is accompanied by either of his parents, or one of his other two sureties.

He is, however, able to attend work, school, court, a hospital, and his lawyer's office unaccompanied.

He is not to communicate with the other accused.

Ghany's family members embraced each other in court upon hearing the decision.

Ghany was arrested on June 2 along with 11 other adults and five youth for alleged terrorist activities.

Due to a sweeping publication ban, evidence brought before the court at the bail hearing cannot be reported."

Iraqi, Coalition Troops Launch Operation, Capture Terrorists

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, July 20, 2006 – Iraqi and coalition soldiers launched a new operation near Kirkuk, Iraq, this morning, and Iraqi army soldiers have captured more than a dozen terrorists near Baghdad over the past two days.
Iraqi soldiers from 2nd Brigade, 4th Iraqi Army Division, and U.S. soldiers of 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, kicked off combined Operation Gaugamela (gaw'guh-MEE-luh). They simultaneously surrounded and entered the cities of Hawija and Riyadh, just west of Kirkuk, searching for suspected al Qaeda terrorists.

The operation, requested by local Sunni Arab leaders, follows a series of terror attacks in the area and comes amid reports of al Qaeda terror cells in the area, U.S. officials said. In the past five weeks, 31 Iraqi soldiers have been killed in terrorist attacks in the region, and six policemen were killed in Hawija earlier this week.

U.S. and Iraqi troops surrounded Hawija, blocking off escape routes, as another combined force air assaulted into the market in the heart of the city. The units are cordoning off the area and searching for terrorist forces. Meanwhile, Iraqi and coalition forces surrounded the village of Riyadh, approximately 10 miles away, and are searching that city.

Operation Gaugamela is named for the battle in which Alexander drove the Persian army from the city of Gaugamela, U.S. officials said.

In other news from Iraq, Iraqi army soldiers from 5th Battalion, 4th Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army Division, found a newly emplaced improvised explosive device early yesterday while conducting a patrol south of Baghdad.

While the troops were investigating the device, terrorists hiding in the area attacked them with small-arms fire. When the soldiers returned fire, the terrorists broke contact and fled the area. The Iraqi army soldiers pursued them and caught 12 suspects. The soldiers traced wires that led to the device and believe it was not yet armed. The explosive device was removed without causing injury or damage.

Elsewhere, Multinational Division Baghdad soldiers prevented a terrorist attack and detained one terrorist at approximately 11 p.m. July 18 while he was emplacing an IED southwest of Baghdad.

Soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, observed two terrorists digging on the side of the road; one terrorist fled to avoid capture, and the other was taken into custody. The soldiers discovered a cache containing four IEDs, a 50 mm mortar tube, 10 60 mm mortars, two AK-47s, a camera with a night-vision-sight system attached, and a drum of 7.62 mm ammunition. A search of the area also led to the seizure of a rocket-propelled-grenade launcher and three RPG rounds. The area was cordoned off, and an explosive ordnance disposal team was called to the scene.

(Compiled from Multinational Corps Iraq news releases.)
