High Court Rulings a GOP Boon (the president and his party are moving the ball down field)
Human Events ^ | July 3, 2006 | Donald Lambro

The latest Supreme Court rulings on the death penalty, campaign financing and congressional redistricting were not only victories for good government, but for President Bush's fight to turn the judiciary in a rightward direction.

If Bush's conservative base, which has been dispirited and divided over the last year, needed to be reminded what he has done for them lately, last week's rulings gave them their answer in abundance.

With conservative Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Samuel Alito added to the bench, the High Court last week handed down a string of decisions that had Bush's allies cheering and his liberal foes increasingly depressed over their declining power in American politics.

The court's 7-2 ruling in favor of Texas' bold redistricting plan (with the exception of a 5-4 ruling on a minority-leaning district that it said violated the Voting Rights Act), was a strategic victory for the GOP and especially former House Majority Leader Tom Delay, who crafted the map-changes that sent four more Republicans to Congress.

While the ruling still left questions about the always-contentious battles over redistricting, there is now no doubt that the states have been given the green light to redraw congressional district boundaries to their political advantage any time they choose, and not wait for the 10-year census report on population shifts.

Changing congressional districts at any time and not wait every 10 years.

That is great for republicans, but it can work just the same with democrats as well...that is much scarier.

The GOP's sun is shining
On everything bright and clear.
But all is gloom at the DNC
As 2008 draws near

Hillary is breathing hard
Edwards is getting a "do."
Kerry is visiting Iowa
and Clark is saying "me too?"

Dean is pumping out hatred
Daschle has built up his shoes
Gore is carefully watching
Which Way Hillary moves.

Anything is possible
As far as politics go
But the chance of this crowd winning 08
Hangs between zero and no.

Demos oppose the war in Iraq
And try very hard to mislead
They're now left behind to self-destruct,
Like a roadside IED.

An article out of Australia showed that Pres. Bush even won on the Guantanao issue.

Those folks, hoping to get action on an Aussie Islamofascist named Hicks, instead were extremely GLUM AND DISHEARTENED after the Scotus ruling.

They'd heard the ruling was a victory for them and a defeat for Bush.

But then they found out that Hicks (some new name like Ali bin Hasami or something) was NOT going anyplace and will be imprisoned for the duration. (I.E., 'til hell freezes over.)

They sputtered about "when he'd get a fair trial?"

(Answer: He don't get NO TRIAL at all!)

Hahahah

GEORGE BUSH & KARL ROVE STRIKE AGAIN! STRATEGERY!

True but it is up to W to keep nominating as many jurists as he can to fill all those lower court vacancies and especially the 2nd Fed. and DC district vacancies. It will keep the pressure on the Dems till Nov.

Very cynical. Republicans shouldn't assume that blatant gerrymandering will always help them.

...nor should Republicans think that all they need to do to save the country is to rely upon pork to keep themselves in power and the courts to reverse the insanity that the courts helped bring about when the left was in charge.

The Democrats are divided and adrift. Its a good thing they can't declare a stand on national security because they don't have one. And they can't tell Americans their country is an "exceptional nation." Plus, they don't wear their patriotism on their sleeve. Things are looking up for the GOP this fall.

(The Palestinian terrorist regime is the crisis and Israel's fist is the answer.)
