It's difficult to understand how they could throw a safe winner like Lieberman under the bus over a single issue. The rage against the war must be everything for them. Lieberman is as far left as Ted Kennedy on everything except national security. It must be a litmus test for them. If you believe in the defense of our nation, you shouldn't be in office.

The brutal side of politics is that so many of Joe's elected long time DIM friends are not on the stump for him either.

That is pretty much it with the far left.

I hope and think this is true. If being against the war on terror is necessary then the Democratic party is toast.

The Dems have no ideas. Their leaders have given up on any meaningful platform, and have pinned their hopes on things going badly in Iraq. Any Dem who supports the war is in trouble with the party.

I suppose the MSM has gotten the word, too, so it'll be Haditha and Gitmo stories 24/7. It's gonna be a long summer in Iraq.

This is 1972 all over again, when the present radicals took over the Democratic Party.

Not just Iraq, but Israel going into Gaza drives the John Walker Lindh wing of the Democratic party even further angrier.

Maybe the Democrats were paying attention to when President Bush supported Arlen Spector, and decided that they were better off without Joe L.

"An interesting kind of 'Democrat,' Lieberman thinks he is," he wrote. "One who doesn't respect the wishes of his state's Democratic voters, one who will split his state's vote on the left and potentially hand the election to a Republican."

Well, if party LOYALTY is your primary concern Kos, then what are you doing splitting the Democrats over a seat you'd otherwise be assured of holding just so you can flex political muscle? :-)

The argument splits both ways dear.

Now if you were HONEST you wouldn't make that argument, as it's clear you aren't loyal to PARTY above everything. Neither am I, but I don't pretend to be a member of either party. You do.

Democratic antipathy toward Mr. Lieberman is nothing new; his support for both Persian Gulf wars, free trade, and religion in public life has long made him suspect among some liberals, and he has clashed with teachers' unions in his support for limited experiments with school vouchers.

Wow! What a ringing endorsement of betrayals! Now I understand why he must be cleansed from the party! For Shame Senator! How dare you actually stand for :gasp: American values!

The real shame is that Leiberman IS a Liberal, but Kos is the imposter. Yet Kos is pulling strings and want a true Liberal run out of the party under the guise he's abandoned liberalism. Uh-uh. Liberals used to stand for Free Trade, a strong national Defense and Freedom of religion. He's perfectly in the mainstream of what Liberalism was before it was hijacked by people that hate this country and apparently any mention of God.

The only possible departure is perhaps limited exposure to school vouchers, but even there typical Dem constituencies desire it among the poor, minorities and blue collar types. So he's not out of sync with them, even if he is with the union.

One of many rat litmus tests. The rats have long suppressed the voice of pro-life or school choice rat party politicians. Anti-military, anti-birth, anti-freethought, anti-business, anti-taxpayer, anti-family and anti-America. They are the perfect opposition party. They stand for nothing except opposition to whatever the GOP is for. Unfortunately for the rats the GOP has taken a position of American survival. It is a very popular issue.

"It's difficult to understand how they could throw a safe winner like Lieberman under the bus over a single issue. The rage against the war must be everything for them."

IMO their rage is not against "the war." Their rage is against fellow Americans who ascribe to conservative and traditional American values.

When confronting the left it is important to avoid validating their sincerity by arguing "issues." The "issues" (the war, global warming, racism, etc.) are mere vehicles used by the left to carry on their real war...destruction of traditional Americans and traditional American values.

I'm sure they even delude themselves into thinking that the issues matter. Again, the "issues" are simply an opportunity to vent their deep seated hatred and prejudice of a specific type of person...American traditionalists...you and me.

It's all about personal hatred and bigotry. It's not about any one issue.

Prediction: Lieberman will win the Dem nomination handily. The Daily Kos is overreaching once again. Lamont will go down big time. That said, I could care less who is nominated on the Dem side. I want a Rep senator from CT.
