Because of delayed steet maintainance repairs completion, I am stranded, and can go nowhere this year to celebrate. Stuck watching the festivities on tv...:( It's clearly a Tory plot.
Don't you have a friend with a helicopter or something? :-)

You mean that you missed out on the real event? Twenty thousand people all trying to get into the Arlington National Cemetery Metro station at the same time? :-) LOL. Nope, missed that experience.......besides, at risk of giving away just how long ago I lived there, there were no metro stations then. LOL. Although, Just Amy, PrissyMissy and I did go back to DC for the President's Inauguration and had the pleasure of being packed into a sea of people at one of the metro stations downtown trying to get out of the city after the ceremony. Boy howdy....was that ever fun! I do have to say, though, the Metro system is great. We had absolutely no problem getting anywhere in the city and even rode the Metro at midnight after the FReeper Ball and felt completely safe.
I usually walk across the Memorial Bridge and watch it from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial- with the Reflecting Pool in the foreground, the Washington Monument in the background and the Capitol behind that. It's really spectacular.
I can imagine it would be!

Wow, all the State flowers, that was beautiful.
My mom is staying the week with us recovering from surgery, we're having beer can chicken on the grill with corn on the cob, potato salad, baked beans and praline peach cobbler for desert. Just had some watermelon, it's going to be a good 4th. :)

HAPPY 4th to everyone. The lady Marine, second from right front row, did her part to secure our freedom. Today she and her husband decided that she will take her freedom back on Thursday. They decided that she is going home. I talked with her this morning and told her, "THANK YOU, MARINE, FOR SERVING." She sends her love to all.

I send my love to her, so happy to hear she's going home.

Hey- maybe we were in the same car on Inauguration Day. I was on the Orange Line going through the city to work at one of the hospitals. I was the large grumpy dark-haired guy trying to read an e-book on a Palm Pilot. Remember? :-D

LOL!! It would be more likely that you would remember
us. We had a very friendly, bubbly five year old with us (PrissyMissy) who was on a first name basis with EVERYONE on the car by the time we got to our destinations.
Nice chatting with you, Riley. Gotta run, got places to go and things to do.
Have a nice 4th!

Happy Independence Day, Dolly.
We are spending the day at our Son's. We came down yesterday afternoon. He worked yesterday. WE thought about going further south last night to watch fireworks in Lori's neck of the woods but changed our mind and went to dinner instead.
We do not do fireworks at home. They are too dangerous and expensive. Mr JA does not drive at night. He is having cataract surgery tomorrow, so will only be able to watch fireworks displays from a distance. Several of the small communities had their displays last night.
I picked up the dance pictures last week. When I get home I will scan PrissyMissy's picture. She looks pretty cute. :)
