AL GORE IN 2008. Prime Choice
The New Republic ^ | June 22, 2006 | Martin Peretz

Posted on 07/04/2006 11:10:37 AM PDT by Torie

…The first pragmatic reason to be for Gore, then, is that he is electable. He won once. {SCOTUS stole the election.] He can win again. … That Bush has been such a clot as a president, such a golem magnifies Gore's stature as a thinking person with beliefs he can defend honestly and persuasively. …

Hillary starts out with so many in the electorate--left, far left, right, far right, center--nearly half of the public … She is just disliked. The phenomenon is actually volcanic. The more she shifts her ground the more shaky it is, and she has shifted her ground aplenty. Why, if Hillary were to run against Mayor Giuliani or John McCain in 2006, she'd likely lose even her "home" state of New York. … Now, I disagree with Gore about Iraq ... … On domestic economic matters, Gore is a free-market realist rather than a free-market fanatic. The issues he has tended to are issues on which he is truly expert.

He is not afraid of science and technology because he knows science and technology. And, yes, he did more to foster the democratization of the Internet than anyone in public life anywhere. …

His film, An Inconvenient Truth … has bonded him to so many intelligent and activated citizens of all political persuasions and social strata that it may be the most brilliant campaign-launch in our time.

Let me tell you a few words about the question as to whether Al Gore has changed. Actually, to me he is essentially the same young man I met in a Harvard freshman seminar 41 years ago: inquisitive, respectful of learning and scholarship, emotionally connected, committed to his friends and family, incandescently smart, believing in an order of the universe he still genuinely refers to as God. …

This is a joke, right???

Gore is as dumb as a brick when it comes to science. And his movie is not only propaganda and lies, but boring to boot!

So the Gore/Lieberman bumper stickers plastered all over your vehicle were just a joke?

Peretz was one of Gore's teachers at Harvard. They have a relationship going back over thirty years. Peretz was one of Gore's early supporters for the presidency in '84 and '88 and '92. Pretez sees Gore as a stable supporter of Israel and as electable. Something Hitlery may not be.

Most of the die hard Gore supporters thought nothing wrong with him when he campaigned in 2000. So what if he was arrogant and rude to Bush in the first debate? Most lefties felt exactly the same way.

Some of the responders to the article at TNR, get it:
"Right, we run a candidate who blew a sure thing in 2000, who couldn't lead three sailors into a cathouse, on a platform of I'LL TAX YOUR GAS AND TAKE AWAY YOUR CAR!

That's a _sure_ thing. For the love of God, what country do you people think you're living in?"

Al Gore will be exposed if he runs. Exposed to fact checking by the blogs, which did not exist in anywhere near the numbers they do today. He will lie, and look the fool in minutes, not even given 24 hours. Day after day, the absurdity would accumulate, until it obscured any accolades anyone might try and point out about his "scienfific" achievements. Al Gore is clearly his own worst enemy, as he is too juvenile to own up to his own pronouncements. Values? He values sound bites, nothing more. Al Gore is as shallow as a piece of paper, and it will become impossible to hide this fact.

This article by Peretz is another sign that Al will run in 2008. I hope so. It will make the Dem primary so much fun. I can't wait to hear the scuttlebutt from Clinton administration insiders that no one really liked Al and they all thought he was a dim lightbulb.

This rag selected Gore as their favorite candidate, over BJ Clinton, back in 1992, and has tried to push his "elevation" ever since. You would think they'd quit beating that dead horse.

I agree. Contrary to the fulminations of this nitwit hack, Algore knows next to nothing about technology and science. He parrots soundbites and hopes it will pass muster with the MSN, as it probably will. But the bloggers, many of whom have more scientific and tech savvy in their little fingers than Algore has in his whole corpulent body, will take him apart.

A mediocre intellect can only fake it successfully among other mediocrities, as Algore will painfully discover in the next campaign.

Al Gore and Futurama: Six Degrees Of Seperation

Al Gore and Frye once met in an alternate reality.

Frye once thought he was a robot.

Al Gore is a robot who thinks he's human.

The robot Bender appears in a commercial for Al's movie.

Al beats Bender up in the commercial.

Al Gore would get beaten like a drum in 2008.
