Shooting them down would have been a more important test. And NK would have lost face

NK did loose face. The "new improved" ICBM is the one that blew up. Scuds are a joke and not worth our time to intercept. I would not yet rule out that we had something to do with the short flight of the ICBM.

I'd have to check but we have (I believe) "intercepted" 6 out of 8 of our tests, if I recall correctly. I'll have to get back to you on that. I wouldn't sneeze at that success rate.

These types of missiles often blow up at the start of Stage II. It's not that unusual. If NK has a missile that can go 9200 miles, it has to be a three-stage missile, and it has to work. No one has seen any evidence of this happening.

Worrying about the SCUDs as a threat to the US would be a joke.

JMO, we won't admit it but I think we brought it down. NK may have wanted the shuttle but were puppet-ed because others suspected what we have and made us show our hand. Now they are scratching their heads and wondering how we did it. The only problem with this theory is that the NYT didn't know.

Knew we wouldn't, or couldn't, shoot them down.

I don't think we shot it down, I have a feeling we used high energy microwaves or some such to disable its guidance systems. Of course it will never be officially acknowledged..

Reminds me of the song from "Steeler's Wheel," - "Clowns to the left, jokers to the right....."

It's a tie.

That's right, they both have zero intelligence (tie).

Gee, it seems that they followed through. 6 test launches in a single day. Perhaps we should go t!ts up and beg the Useless Nations to write a note. Nevermind, we have done it. This was a great country for 230 years, give or take.

I fear North Korea more so than Iran. This situation only underscores how important our Far East presence is, especially in light of the possible drawdown of our military presence on Okinawa.

We should have nuked Pyongyang

Who said anything about Pyongyang? Who said anything about nuking NK? Only you. Shooting down the missiles would have done two things without any repercussions except a lot of NK mouthing. First, a real test of our defense system. It matters not what type of missiles, it's the test. Second, NK would have lost a lot of creditability as a power. Don't underestimate them. We did at Pearl Harbor at the start of WWII. We were very complacent about our intelligence and the Twin Towers happened. Are we complacent now, you bet your butt.

The important issue is this was something the NK did in defiance of the UN as well as Japan, SK, and many other of our friendly Nations. We knew this test was coming. Was it a test. Did NK want to just throw junk to see just what we as well as the free world would do. Well, we did, and it was the failure to take advantage of testing our navel systems which could have been deployed in the Sea of Japan and etc. We failed the real test. They made us and our allies look like, talk, talk, talk. Maybe we forgot that we are not the only nation that have ICBMs. Do we for one moment think that NK will not have a very advance system in the near future. They are not stupid, and to believe that is the real joke.

Dang, it's so easy to see. We have been had. It's not enough to know what we could do, is it what we do that matters. Remember Pearl Harbor. Check history.

Guess what, NK just sent up the 7th missile.

You are right. But science never sits still. Is there any doubt that they are working hard at overriding systems. And please, don't believe that they are just ignorant. Remember, NK has put everything in the military, even to the point of starving their people. With dedication like this, you can be sure new things on the horizon. I'm not arguing with you, but what happened to the other 2? Maybe 100% would be better. All it takes is one to start a real war. And they are just dumb enough to do it.

Dang, I hope so. It would be hard within the few 35 or so seconds in the firing stage to get it. The speed of our intercept would have to be astronomical. I doubt any laser hit, but just could be. Would be a real stretch.

I'm with you, I hope so. What fantastic thing, and would certainly be worth reporting. Who cares who knows, at this stage in the world game.
