Their TD-2 did not come near the range of our land based interceptors. We have other assets in the area as do the ROK and Japan. Other missiles launched were Scuds and were headed out to sea (Scuds have intertial guidance only), so no real need to overplay our hand. Also, if our airborne laser aircraft were in the area and zapped the "failed" TD-2, I doubt that we would let every Tom, Dick, and Harry know about it...yet.

They either can't control Kim or their technology sucks. Dandy point. I go for the former -- I bet Beijing's shaking its head as much as Washington is.

The Airborne Laser isn't operational yet.
The main weapon will be installed on the 747 later this year. It is still undergoing ground based test firings.

They probably have run out of dogs and cats to eat so they are trying to "scare" us into giving them more food, I'm scared!(but not really)

THINK a minute, "Logical": Do you think we'd tell them if we did? And why not? What kind of a world power are we. Right now we are on the short end of the stick and not just with NK. We needed something that was totally successful. Was this the consequences of threatening NK concerning test. And how are we to keep gaining support of many Nations that are standing on the fence. How do we earn respect. Are we a superpower or just talk. Time to get off the pot.

The only thing we would do is sanctions and even if we did that we would need China and the Ruskies to o.k. them. By the time it got around to happening there would be so many exemptions they would be meaningless.

Okay. I thought that I had read here or elsewhere that a a 747 was being outfitted for the laser system. Are they still testing at White Sands?

Maybe he thought he could shoot our space ship down.
To: Army Air Corps
Maybe they are testing it in the Pactfic.

I shouldn't have to explain, but I will: If we have a capability that renders other nations' military efforts obsolete, we shouldn't reveal it just willy-nilly since (1) it's a damn good thing to keep a secret and (2) the second we DO reveal it, they begin work to defeat it.
See how this works?

How may of his people could that fat little thug have fed with the money wasted making ripples in the Sea of Japan today? Correct answer--none. NK,China,Cuba, don't place a high priority on feeding their slaves.

They did mount a laser on the 747 but it wasn't the weapon. It was part of the test series. I'm guessing they were testing the targeting systems and such.
They have recently fired the laser weapon at full power during a ground test and it worked as designed. I assume late this year or early next we'll see the ABL conduct its first interception.

You know what, Cindy? I thought that, too! Just the sort of thing a terminally-nuts "Dear Leader" would do. Good call! :-)

Cheer up, Rodguy! All is well. This is part of the chess game and the other guys just goofed. There is NO threat from NK and they will be treated accordingly.
To: COEXERJ145
That will be VERY cool to see (assuming video of the test is released). What type of laser is the weapon (I have forgotten)?
