Manhattan is one of the coolest places in the country. But not to live there long-term... For new grads its awesome for a few years out of school, experience the culture and diversity, meet a ton of people from all over, but then they generally get-the hell out of dodge if they can. You can't raise a family there unless you are ultra-wealthy (or in the transit workers unions), the taxes and commute and crowds will do you in eventually.
The silver lining: New, primarily liberal college grads will often change colors (to red) like I did after a few years of working in NY.
Yup. Life has a way of turning blue folks into red folks -if they're smart...or they're residents of the District of Columbia, which is the bluest of the blue jurisdictions.
They lack it, mostly likely, due to rich liberal parents ---
As I've heard them say:
"Hey, someone has to be in power - might as well be us rich liberals - when we create a socialist/communist state we'll be sure to send our kids, and only our kids, to private schools."
