Isn't that the point of real peer review? Having an unbiased source either duplicate results or come to the same resulting conclusions?

Yes, that is the goal of real peer review. After almost 30 yrs in science, I can say that scientists have their favorite ideas, just like everyone else. Being skeptical of ones own ideas takes real diligence.

I worked in law enforcement, specifically in crime scene for years, I learned the importance of not allowing my personal opinion get in the way of evidence.
We have a saying, evidence doesn't lie, it's just misinterpreted. Luckily we have others who through scientific methods and study affiarm or discount our findings.
