BANJA LUKA, Bosnia • A majority of Bosnian Serbs support secession from Bosnia if Serbia's UN-run province of Kosovo was granted independence, a poll published in a Bosnian Serb newspaper yesterday showed.
Forty percent of 850 people polled in Bosnia's Serb Republic fully agree and 22.3 per cent mostly agree with the idea of breaking away and joining Serbia, showed the Partner Marketing poll published in the independent weekly magazine Reporter.
Twenty-eight per cent fully or mostly reject the idea.
The Bosnian Serbs' lingering secession sentiment was revived after the Montenegrin vote in May to end a union with Serbia, which Bosnian Serbs see as their homeland after the breakup of the former Yugoslavia.
It could get a much stronger boost if Kosovo's Albanian majority was allowed, as expected, to declare independence by the end of the year.
The Serb Republic has reluctantly shared Bosnia with a Muslim-Croat federation under the Dayton peace treaty that ended the 1992-95 war in which at least 100,000 people were killed. It was backed by Belgrade in the conflict.
Bosnian Serb politicians dropped secession referendum rhetoric after Western peace officials warned them that it would be contrary to Bosnia's constitution and the terms of the peace treaty and would be met with a resolute response.
But the Bosnian Serb leaders have said it would remain an option if the existence of the Serb Republic-which Muslims and Croats say was created on genocide and ethnic cleansing and want abolished-came under threat.
The Bosnian Serbs, who are in the minority in Bosnia, might have good reasons for wanting to secede. After the Kosovo conflict, Muslim quasi-terrorist groups in the Balkans have been massacring innocent Serbs much like the Milosevic regime has massacred innocent Albanians in Kosovo. It makes sense for the Bosnian Serbs to desire a government that will not endorse ethnic cleansing one way or the other-- which qualification the current Serbian government certainly has.

If you wish to be a part of that crowd, whatever.
Must understand Hoplite -- he thinks that he has ALL the answers and is so above us all. He is a narcissistic jerk with an agenda, who shows up to get his butt kicked regularly -- yet he convinces himself that HE actually won the debate. It's annoying at first, but then you realize that he really does serve a purpose -- as comic relief!
You do, do you?
Given that I don't make American foreign policy, let's hear you explain the Bush administration's "persistant alliance with Balkan muslims bent on ridding the region of their Christian counterparts".
Please answer. I look forward to hearing from you.
100% correct! I cannot and will never understand why it is that we (the USA) have not and do not support the Serbs completely. It is Serbia which best represents freedom and democracy in the Balkans as it is today. It is Serbia which has been our historical friend and has fought with us against fascism and terrorists (a perfect example being their struggle against the terrorist KLA).
Yeah, like 1987 incidents in Slavonia, huhh? Yeah, those nasty but nice Croatians ehh? You are a putz.
I did - you just don't like the answer, so...
And that bit of foreign policy can be attributed to Clinton.
we get this little piece of ignorance, 6 years into the Bush administration. How many years is it going to take, huh John? Is Bill still running the show over at State, or is there a number, in years, that have to pass prior to your realizing how stupid this statement is?
Bush is currently going in the direction of support for the Serbs.
How, exactly? By continuing to push for a unitary Bosnian State? By pushing for an independent Kosovo? By keeping Serbia out in the cold until they get off their asses and start cooperating with the ICTY over Mladic?
How, John, how is President Bush "currently going in the direction of support for the Serbs" in the real world?
Perhaps if you are unwilling to answer my question with a straight answer, then there's really little use of conversating with you.
Conversely, if you're not knowledgeable enough on the subject to be discussing it, there's really little use of conversating with you, is there John.
All is not lost, however - if you avail yourself of the State Department's country pages for the various Balkan states, you may be able to educate yourself out of your present information deficit and become a knowledgeable discussion participant.
That would be a logical and just step.
How can one educate himself when the MSM is full of not inaccuracies, but out and out lies that started with the Klintoon Administration.
How can you even begin to chastise anyone about talking with authority and not having knowledge about the Balkans; when the posts you make are laden with misleading statements about Serbs executing Americans in Serbia and mass graves in Kosovo........?
As Dey say bak home, "Dat dog don't hunt" ya'all....
As to your protestations, you'll have to forgive me if I don't take you seriously anymore - you've got nothing to offer but disinformation and mindless denials of well established facts.
"How can one educate himself when the MSM is full of not inaccuracies, but out and out lies that started with the Klintoon Administration. "
Definitely agree about MSM, but fortunately MSM don't have a monopoly of information anymore, including the information coming out of Balkans.
Here are links taken from various sources showing the Islamist connections to Bosnia and Kosovo during and after Yugoslavian wars.

Excerpt from BBC (Usually pro-Muslim) Report:
"Hundreds of foreign Muslim volunteers - the mujahideen - fought alongside their Bosnian Muslim co-religionists in the conflict with Bosnia's Serb and Croat nationalists."
"Under the Dayton peace accords of 1995, the mujahideen - along with all foreign fighters and military instructors - were required to leave the country. "
"But the Sarajevo government granted Bosnian passports to Muslim fighters who either married locally or had no safe country to go to. "
Here is the excerpt from Joseph Farah 2001 article

"While part of the U.S. military is bombing and strafing caves in Afghanistan, determined to root out Osama bin Laden's terror network, in the Balkans, another part of the U.S. military is allied with the Kosovo Liberation Army which maintains close connections with the al-Qaida network "
Here is another article on de-facto Bosnian Islamic State connection to the International Jihad.
"Grand Mufti of Bosnia [Mustafa Ceric] calls for standing by Syria"
http://www.arabicnews.com/ansub/Daily/Day/060204/2006020409.html
"The Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mustafa Ceric called on Friday for standing by Syria in the face of pressures put on her."
"What Syria is exposed to and what is going on in Iraq and Palestine disturb us in the west, the Mufti said in an interview with Tunisian al-Shorok newspaper, adding: There would be no peace in the west without the realization of peace in the east."
"What the world had offered to Jerusalem during 50 years of occupation? the Mufti inquired, indicating that the city of has become a city for war."
"Humanity has to move for turning away what threatens the holy city, Ceric concluded."
How would you construe the phrase by Mustafa Ceric whom MSM designate as the example of "moderate Islam"
"There would be no peace in the west without the realization of peace in the east."
Is it a threat of Terror against the Western Countries for not toeing to Muslim line or what ? Remember, it is not just some individual, but the chief cleric of the Bosnian Muslim republic that the United States saved during Balkan wars against the Bosnian Serbian Army. It was US and NATO allies that saved Bosnian Islamic state from destruction. And how Muslim Bosnia pays back the United States ? Another example of Jihadist treachery--use the infidel to fight another infidel and then stab your former infidel benefactor in the back.
It's the failure of the US and European leaders to recognize ISLAM and ISLAMIC JIHAD(not an abstract "Global Terrorism") as the greatest threat to the Western Civilization lead the US and Europe to undermine their own interests in the Balkans and elsewhere and help Jihadists de-facto establish their own countries in Europe.
It also explains closer Serb-American military cooperation, sharing trade info on the ground..ala KLA-US cooperation...deja vu, huhh?
Why do you think we are moving out of the Kosovo Theatre? To wash our hands of any dirt that will be coming out publicly, within the next twelve to eighteen months.
Interesting premise. Hope that it is true.
SO What: Bush at least made us +s a f e+ in the "Bush Era": That's more than I can say for Clinton and his administraton, and wasted foreign policy: He took over after bacially 3 Reagan Adminstrations (..foreign policy wise..), screwed us up and set us up for 9/11/01 and the war on Terror: So if I were you TROLL; I'd go back and re-figure out your facts, because if we followed your policy we'd be AmeriSTAN pretty darn soon..!
