TEHRAN, July 09 (ISNA)-Iran has successfully overhauled five 747 Bowings.
This is while before this, Iranian airlines had to send their planes to foreign companies, but today Iran has gained the ability to carryout this service with much lower expenses.
"Of course we can not deny the negative effects of the placed airplane part sanctions, but we have removed many of the obstacles through the aid of airlines," said the executing company's manager.

They use genuine Bowing parts.

Not that I was planning on it, but I think I'll avoid the Iranian Bowings and their gray market parts.
How long before they start shooting down airliners just for the crash site parts? The PM there is at least as nutso as Kim Jong Mentally Ill.

You're right. Thanks. The FAA is a stickler on traceability.

Iranian 747SPs in US airspace last year. This is an Iran Air Boeing 747SP on finals for JKF on September 13 2005. It was carrying Ahmadinijad.

At first glance I thought "Bowing" was some old jet plane design I'd never heard of.
To: Paleo Conservative
Given the source of the photo and the look of the mechanics, that looks kind of ominous.

I'll bet they're equipped with a boe and arrows now.

Alaskan Airlines had a crash due to a defective jackscrew. The part wasn't certified. It lasted long enough to get airborne and halfway through the flight before failing. The aircraft, passengers and crew experienced an extended period of harrowing malfunction before crashing into the ocean. Repairing a plane with bogus, untested parts is asking for a replay.

As long as 747SP's are taken care of, I don't care who does it.
A wonderful plane.

I used to work for a company that made parts for airplanes. The paperwork was incredible. How could Alaska Airlines get away with using not certified parts?
I believe they are still in business.

In other news, Iranians will now be able to repair Rollex watches and Lekzus automobiles.

Who wouldn't want to fly on "Ayatollah Air" as long as there's a gun pointed at your head?

The track supervisor on the Vincennes, who I knew and served with in the early 90's, had the Iranian Airbus "hooked" and the F-14 on the runway ball-tabbed. (Makes sense if you are Navy or Air Force). His displays showed IFF info for the F-14 and track information for the Airbus. He got confused during a tense situation. He ended up reporting the Airbus descending when it was climbing which resulted in a shootdown. It was a horrible mistake.
I taught NTDS at Damneck, VA and stood watch in CIC as CIC watch officer for 6 years on three ships. There is no doubt in my mind about how and why this happened. What you have posted is not true.

Thank you for clearing it up.
What I posted was that there had been reports at the time with the event as I posted. Those reports did happen, so my post was not false.
Those reports, according to your expert opinion were false. That works for me, as I offered no personal opinion on the reports validity,
I was merely observing that the reports had been published and posted on FreeRepublic.
